Serving Barking and Dagenham
Barking and Dagenham is an east London borough by the river Roding. We travel throughout Greater London for gurdwara ceremonies, and Newham, Redbridge are all familiar to us. We photograph at gurdwaras, banqueting halls and marquees right across Greater London.
We take the time beforehand to understand your family's customs and the order of the maiyan, mehndi and jaggo. We are a reassuring, familiar presence in the gurdwara, so the sangat relax and the day flows naturally. We balance documentary coverage with a few quiet portraits, so your album holds both the reverence of the darbar sahib and the energy of the bhangra.
We have photographed Sikh weddings throughout Newham, Redbridge for many years, and Barking and Dagenham, an east London borough by the river Roding, is a familiar and welcome destination. We also cover nearby Barnet and Bexley. Around Barking and Dagenham we regularly photograph at Oasis Banqueting, Green Lane Banqueting and Crown Banqueting Suite, among others.
An east London borough by the river Roding, home to the Becontree estate, one of the largest council-built estates in the world. Barking station serves the District, Hammersmith and City and c2c lines, with the A13 running through the borough into central London. When there is time for couple portraits, Central Park in Dagenham, opened in 1932 on former Eastbrook Farm land is a favourite, and Barking Abbey ruins and the 15th century Curfew Tower beside St Margaret's Church makes a memorable setting.

What we offer
The bride's departure from her family home, the most emotional moment of the day, photographed with great sensitivity.
The maiyan, mehndi and jaggo night, where the warmest, most natural moments of a Sikh wedding often happen.
From the milni and the kirtan to the four laavan before the Guru Granth Sahib, every part understood and captured.
Every tradition
As the ragis sing each laav, the couple walk slowly around the Guru Granth Sahib, and we photograph it quietly from the side. At the heart of a Sikh wedding is the Anand Karaj, the blissful union performed before the Guru Granth Sahib. Heads covered and seated on the floor with the sangat, we photograph the laavan without ever intruding.
The doli, when the bride leaves her family home, is the most tender moment of the day. The dhol and bhangra of the jaggo are pure joy, and we capture every bit of the energy. The day often opens early with kirtan in the gurdwara, and we are there for it.

The whole celebration
The turmeric of the maiyan and the henna of the mehndi are rich with colour, and we make the most of it. The days before the wedding often hold the most relaxed, candid moments of the whole celebration.
We document the grand moments and the quiet ones in between, so nothing is lost. The story often turns to the doli in the afternoon, before the energy of the evening reception.
Why choose us
Decades of gurdwara weddings mean we read the day instinctively and never miss the milni or the doli. Over a thousand celebrations have taught us when to step close for the milni and when to stand quietly back during the laavan.
From our London base, Barking and Dagenham and the gurdwaras of Greater London are an easy, familiar journey. Reaching your gurdwara is simply part of how we work, and distance is never a barrier to covering the milni.

Where we travel
We are London-based but rarely in London; much of our work takes us to the gurdwaras and jaggo nights of London and the surrounding area. We cover London and the surrounding area and beyond for the darbar sahib and the reception, and are glad to travel further afield on request.

Yes. The morning milni, when the families meet, and the doli, when the bride departs, are among the most moving moments of the day, and we photograph both with warmth and sensitivity.
Yes. We travel to Barking and Dagenham and across Greater London for Sikh weddings. The Anand Karaj and its many surrounding events are a speciality, and distance is never a problem.
Yes. For larger Sikh weddings we bring a second photographer, so the milni and the bridal preparations can be covered at once and both the ceremony and the guests are fully captured.
Very. We photograph the four laavan and the prayers from a respectful distance with quiet, long-lens work, seated with the sangat, so the Anand Karaj is never disturbed.
Yes. Our style is mainly documentary, but we will also gather a handful of timeless couple and family portraits so your album has both energy and elegance.
