Barking and Dagenham and nearby
The first few minutes have no camera in them. That sounds like waste and is not: an animal that has already sniffed us is an animal that will settle. Nervous and elderly ones get a shorter session, indoors or at home if going out is itself the difficulty.
Edited images come back with leads, harnesses and stray hairs cleaned off, and we always keep a few frames of the animal doing nothing in particular. Those tend to look most like them.

What we offer
Pet sessions on familiar ground across Barking and Dagenham, at the hour your animal is usually out.
Leads stay on and come out in the edit, so an uncertain recall never limits where we photograph.
Shorter, calmer sittings for elderly or anxious animals, at home if leaving the house is the problem.
Why choose us
Walking a dog that will not settle beats pressing on. Ten minutes outside resets an animal far more effectively than another twenty minutes of trying indoors. Treats are used sparingly and rotated, because an animal that has already eaten twenty pieces of chicken stops caring very much about the twenty-first.
Detail frames of paws, noses, whiskers and an old dog's greying muzzle are taken alongside the full portraits, since those are what owners remember. One photographer runs the session, which keeps the room quiet, and no assistant appears unless the work genuinely calls for a second pair of hands.

Good to know
Almost anything with fur, feathers or hooves. From dogs and cats to rabbits, guinea pigs and horses, we welcome them all in London. If your pet is a little unusual, just ask us first. Whatever the animal, our patience and affection stay the same. For outdoor photographs in Barking and Dagenham we would suggest Central Park in Dagenham, opened in 1932 on former Eastbrook Farm land.
Yes. We photograph horses and ponies at the stables or out in the field near London, and small pets like rabbits and guinea pigs in the studio. Whatever the animal, we work patiently and calmly, catching its character without ever hurrying or unsettling it. Barking and Dagenham and neighbouring Ilford, Rainham and Chadwell Heath are all covered.
Yes. Barking and Dagenham is an east London borough and well inside the ground we cover, along with Ilford, Rainham and Chadwell Heath. For dogs we would meet you at the ground you already walk, because a familiar place buys you a settled animal in the first ten minutes. Cats and small animals we photograph at the house. Bring the treats they actually want, not the everyday ones.
Yes. We often photograph several animals from one household, together and individually. Mixed groups of cats and dogs are welcome, and we take the time to get everyone looking the right way at the right moment. Bringing a helper for each pet can make it easier. For Barking and Dagenham bookings, getting here is simple: Barking station serves the District, Hammersmith and City and c2c lines, with the A13 running through the borough into central London.
Very little at all. A good walk before you leave London can settle an excitable dog, and a slightly hungry pet is often keener on treats. Bring a favourite toy, and otherwise just let your animal be itself. We handle the patience, the play and the timing. We cover Barking and Dagenham and nearby Ilford, Rainham and Chadwell Heath.
Serving Barking and Dagenham
We photograph pet sessions right across London, and Barking and Dagenham (Greater London) is well within our regular patch. It sits close to Newham and Redbridge, which we cover too. You are always welcome at the Northwood studio too.
An east London borough by the river Roding, home to the Becontree estate, one of the largest council-built estates in the world. Barking station serves the District, Hammersmith and City and c2c lines, with the A13 running through the borough into central London. Sessions on location near Barking and Dagenham often use Central Park in Dagenham, with Barking Abbey ruins and the 15th century Curfew Tower beside St Margaret's Church close at hand.
More in Barking and Dagenham
The same studio, experience and personal care apply to every service we offer in Barking and Dagenham. Explore the rest: We also cover pet photography across London, including Brent, Wandsworth, Kensington and Chelsea, Ealing, Richmond upon Thames and Bromley.
The Roding gives this borough its best ground for a dog and two of its problems in the same stretch of bank. Water first: photograph everything that matters before the dog goes in. A soaked coat clumps and collapses the outline that makes a particular animal recognisable to the person who owns him, and no amount of work afterwards puts that shape back. Once he is in, the session has become a different session, so plan the order and accept it. The second problem is the A13. A trunk road running through the borough carries a long way over open ground, and an animal that flinches at engine noise will not settle anywhere it can still hear one. With a nervous dog we would put the road behind us and keep walking until the sound thins out, and we would not unclip a lead while it remains audible at all. Footing decides what is possible with an older animal. Riverside going is soft, and after rain it is slick, and a dog with tired hips cannot hold a stand on it. Firmer ground and a lower camera achieve more than asking the animal to climb or scramble for the sake of a background. For an anxious dog the open stretches repay the walk it takes to reach them. A dog that can watch another approaching from a long way off behaves quite differently from one that meets a stranger appearing round a hedge at close quarters, and that choice of ground does more than any lens.
