Sessions stay short deliberately, run in bursts with real pauses between them, and we stop as soon as interest runs out rather than because a clock says otherwise. A favourite toy and whatever treats work stay with the owner, just outside the frame.
We work from floor height throughout, which means kneeling on whatever surface is going. You get the finished set back with the frames you choose worked on individually. A second animal in the household is photographed on the same visit.

What we offer
Dogs photographed in Southwark Park, or on the streets and floors they already know from daily life.
Cats, rabbits and smaller companions photographed inside the house, with lighting carried in to them.
Short sessions run at the pace the animal chooses, nervous and elderly pets kept comfortably at home.
Why choose us
Working dogs and house pets are approached differently. A gundog is used to commands and responds to them, while a family dog responds to its name and a squeaky toy. Quick reflexes matter with animals, and we are ready for the sudden yawn, the head tilt and the perfect ear-up moment.
Frames of an animal on its own and frames with its owner are both taken, since the second kind is the one people wish they had later. Family portraits with the pet included are a lovely option, so everyone, four legs and two, is in the frame.

Recent work
Good to know
Extremely. Twenty-five years behind the lens and thousands of sessions have brought dogs, cats, horses and small pets of every age and character before us. All that time shows in a calm, quick and gentle presence that soon puts even nervous animals at their ease. Landmarks we can work with near Southwark include Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe theatre on the Bankside riverfront.
Certainly. We regularly photograph two or more pets from the same Southwark home, both as a group and individually. Cats and dogs together are no trouble, though it takes patience to catch everyone at the right moment. An extra pair of hands per animal always helps.
Yes, and for an older animal in Southwark we would come to the house rather than the park. A stiff dog should not have to negotiate traffic and unfamiliar ground first. We work on floors it already uses, keep the whole thing brief, and photograph it lying down as readily as standing, which is usually nearer the truth of the animal anyway.
Because the ground is decided before we set out. A dog you trust off the lead goes to Southwark Park; if recall is not dependable it stays attached and we work in close, which changes nothing about the pictures. The park sits in central London, so the way in and the roads around it matter far more than the middle of it does.
You receive a gallery of carefully edited photographs showing your pet just as you know it. From there, owners in Southwark can choose prints, framed pictures or canvases for the wall. We keep the turnaround fast, so you are not left waiting to see the results.
Serving Southwark
We photograph pet sessions right across London, and Southwark (Greater London) is well within our regular patch. It sits close to Lambeth and Lewisham, which we cover too. You are always welcome at the Northwood studio too.
A historic riverside borough in central London known for its cultural quarter along the South Bank and the vibrant Borough Market food scene. Served by London Bridge station and Southwark Underground station on the Jubilee line. Sessions on location near Southwark often use Southwark Park, with Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe theatre on the Bankside riverfront close at hand.

Coat colour decides the plan here, and a lake sharpens the decision. Water in daylight is a bright surface, so a black dog standing in front of it becomes a shape the camera cannot hold together: open up for the coat and the water goes blank, protect the water and the dog reduces to a silhouette. The escape route is the background, not the settings. Southwark Park carries planted beds as well as open water, and a dark animal placed against deep green gets a background near enough its own brightness that the coat can be lifted with nothing behind it burning out. Pale dogs have the reverse trouble and are better served at the water. Height is the other consideration. Photographed from standing, a dog is mostly a back and a skull, and the result reads as a record of an animal rather than a portrait of one. Getting the lens down to where its eyes actually sit changes that completely, and it separates the pictures owners keep from the ones they scroll past. An animal that is old, stiff or easily rattled belongs at the address where it lives, on flooring it already trusts. None of that requires a park, and an indoor floor stays predictable in a way that a public path in central London never manages on a weekend afternoon. Stiff hips are an argument for working in one room, never an argument for skipping the session.
