Wandsworth and nearby
A session opens with the dog doing whatever it was going to do anyway, and the camera stays out of it for the opening stretch. Once we have stopped being interesting, the real work starts, low down and from a good distance back.
You get edited frames in a private album inside the week, in colour, with a mono version wherever a coat suits one. If a dog will not settle at all, we say so and rebook instead of using up the hour on frames nobody wants.

What we offer
Dogs photographed on Wandsworth Common; cats and house rabbits on the floors they already know.
Sessions kept short and worked from the dog's own eye line, never looking down at it.
Colour and monochrome versions where a dark coat suits it, edited and delivered within the week.
Twenty-five years behind the lens
We work quickly but never rush the animal, catching honest expressions rather than staged ones. Working dogs and house pets are approached differently. A gundog is used to commands and responds to them, while a family dog responds to its name and a squeaky toy.
Studio sessions suit calm cats and small pets, while energetic dogs often do best on an outdoor run. Home sessions suit cats, small pets and anxious dogs, since the animal never has to leave the one place where it already feels completely safe.

Good to know
About an hour from meeting to finishing, though the dog is only really working for perhaps half of that. The rest is walking between spots and waiting for a dog to decide we are boring, which is when the good frames arrive. Older or anxious animals get less, deliberately. We finish once the dog has stopped enjoying itself rather than when a shot list runs out.
Quickly. We keep our turnaround fast, so you are not left waiting after your session. Once your gallery of edited images is ready, you can enjoy, share and choose from them, and we will help you pick prints, frames or canvases for your home. For Wandsworth bookings, getting here is simple: served by Clapham Junction, one of Britain's busiest interchange stations, and Wandsworth Town station.
Yes, indeed. Beyond the edited digital gallery, we provide fine prints, framed pictures and canvases, so your favourite images of your pet can move straight onto the wall. We are always glad to help you pick sizes and finishes that suit your home. We cover Wandsworth and nearby Putney, Balham and Tooting.
Yes. We often photograph several animals from one household, together and individually. Mixed groups of cats and dogs are welcome, and we take the time to get everyone looking the right way at the right moment. Bringing a helper for each pet can make it easier. Open air sessions near Wandsworth can use Wandsworth Common, a large open green with woodland and lakes.
Regularly, and gladly. Those early weeks pass in a blink, so a puppy or kitten session holds on to them. We keep the mood gentle and playful, photographing in short bursts while the little one explores, capturing all the character of those first few months. Locally in Wandsworth that takes in the restored Battersea Power Station on the borough's riverfront.
Serving Wandsworth
We photograph pet sessions right across London, and Wandsworth (Greater London) is well within our regular patch. It sits close to Lambeth and Merton, which we cover too. You are always welcome at the Northwood studio too.
A riverside south-west London borough with leafy commons, riverside developments and a strong family community. Served by Clapham Junction, one of Britain's busiest interchange stations, and Wandsworth Town station. For relaxed outdoor photographs around Wandsworth, we like Wandsworth Common, and the restored Battersea Power Station on the borough's riverfront is a well-known local backdrop.

Two features of Wandsworth Common decide most dog sessions here, and they pull against each other. The lakes are the strongest thing on the common as far as a dog is concerned, and recall that works perfectly well on the green stops working within sight of water, so frames that need the lead off get made on open ground first and the water gets walked to afterwards, once the session is effectively over. The woodland is the other feature, and it sets a problem of tone rather than behaviour. A dark dog standing among trees has nothing behind it lighter than itself, so the outline goes and the picture reads as a hole. Turning round to put sky behind produces the opposite fault and the coat drops to a cut-out. What works is the join between the two, the animal on open green with the tree line well behind, far enough back to go soft and give a mid tone the coat can sit against. Pale dogs want the reverse and belong in front of the trees. Footing is the other consideration, since ground under the canopy stays wet for a long stretch after rain, which is a poor combination with a light-coated dog and an owner in good shoes. An anxious dog, or one that is simply old, is better photographed at its own address on a familiar floor, where the common asks nothing of it at all.
