Teenagers are given the same courtesy as adults, told what is happening and asked rather than instructed, which usually turns the sulkiest one into an ally.
Sessions can take place in our Northwood studio or outdoors in a park your family loves, whichever suits you best. Milestone sessions at sitting, crawling and walking make sense because each looks entirely different, and a baby changes more in a year than most people do in a decade.

Yes. Wandsworth is a regular run for us. It is a long drive from Northwood, though, and that changes one practical thing: sessions there get booked with a margin built in, so traffic cannot eat the light we planned around. Give us a start time that suits the children rather than our diary, and tell us which entrance you will be walking in from.
That is perfectly ordinary and never an issue for us. Tears, squirming and sudden sleepiness are all familiar, so we just stop, help settle your little one and pick up where we left off. Patience means an unsettled moment rarely affects the final photographs. Wandsworth is easy to reach: served by Clapham Junction, one of Britain's busiest interchange stations, and Wandsworth Town station.
Choose two or three tones and let everyone land somewhere inside them; a family in identical outfits photographs as a uniform. Mid tones hold up well against the greens of the common, and one person in bright white pulls every eye in the frame. Footwear matters more than the clothes do, because the ground under the trees stays soft and cold feet end sessions early.
A cake smash celebrates turning one, giving your little one a cake to poke, squish and taste. We photograph the curious anticipation, the delightful chaos and every gleeful expression along the way. A family session in Wandsworth runs on the common, and the geography of that matters more than the photography. It is a large open green, generous for a group and unhelpful for a pram: the walk between wherever the car ends up and the ground worth photographing on is what most often spends a small child's goodwill before a single frame exists. So the spot gets chosen from the gate inwards, not from the best light backwards. A woodland edge near an entrance will do nearly everything a clearing in the interior does, and nobody has to haul a toddler across half the green to reach it. The same logic decides whether grandparents last the session. A bench within sight of where we are standing is the difference between three generations photographed together and two, and a minute spent looking settles it. Children under about five hand over one decent stretch of cooperation and then it is spent, so the arranged group frame gets taken first rather than kept for the end, and the loose frames come afterwards once the pressure is off. Weather is the honest problem here. Northwood is too far to serve as a wet-weather fallback for a family with young children, so a session that moves indoors moves into your own home instead. That is no compromise: a front room with one large window, and the furniture nearest it pushed back, photographs a baby better than a cold common ever will.
