Commercial work in Wandsworth divides along the riverfront. The developments there give a business premises that photograph well in a wide shot and badly in a portrait: full-height glazing, pale floors, a great deal of reflective surface. The difficulty in a room like that is never too little light. It is that the window is a vast cool source on one axis and the ceiling fittings are a warm one on another, so a face caught between them goes green on one cheek and orange on the other, and no white balance setting corrects both. The rest of a shoot should be the premises and the people, photographed close enough that the trade is legible. Across a team, consistency beats any single strong frame, so everybody is photographed against one chosen wall, in the same position, with the distances noted, and a person starting later drops into the identical frame rather than an approximation of it.
