For Sutton
Sessions are deliberately brief. Around forty minutes of an interested animal beats two hours of a bored one, and we stop at the first rather than push on into the second.
A long line goes on for anything whose recall is optimistic, and is removed later in the edit. You get back a selection where an ear or an eye is properly caught, in colour, plus mono versions where the coat earns them, and a note of which frames print well at size.

What we offer
Dog photographs made on the walk it takes anyway, in Sutton gardens or out on the parkland.
Cats, rabbits and older or anxious animals photographed indoors, at their own pace, with lighting we carry.
Nervous animals are given the whole first stretch simply to decide that we are boring.
Local and experienced
We learn a little about your pet beforehand, its favourite games, treats and quirks, so the session is built around it. Nervous rescue dogs are given the run of the room before anything is switched on, and the first frames are only taken once the sniffing has finished.
A studio backdrop can be clean and simple or richly coloured, whichever suits your animal's coat and character. Cats are photographed on their own furniture wherever possible, since a windowsill or a favourite chair produces a far more honest picture than any backdrop.

Good to know
Absolutely, bring them along. A favourite toy or a handful of treats helps your pet relax and gives us a way to catch its gaze. We stock plenty ourselves too, from squeaky toys to a whole repertoire of very silly noises when they are needed. Around Sutton we plan for landmarks such as Nonsuch Mansion, a Gothic Revival house in Nonsuch Park on the site of the former Tudor Nonsuch Palace.
Of course you can. Portraits of owners with their pets are among the most moving we make for families in London. You are welcome in the frame, showing the bond between you, or just out of shot keeping your animal calm and looking our way. Getting to Sutton is straightforward for us: Sutton station is served by Thameslink and Southern trains on the Sutton and Mole Valley lines.
Yes. We travel out to Sutton regularly, and to the streets immediately around it. Dogs are usually photographed on a walk they take anyway, or in the garden behind the house. A cat or a house rabbit never has to leave home at all. Let us know about parking and any stairs before the day, since we arrive carrying lighting and stands.
Both exist, but from Sutton the sensible pair is outdoors or at home. The studio sits up in Northwood, and a long car journey beforehand usually costs more in a rattled animal than a plain backdrop gains. Nonsuch Park suits a dog with running in it; a garden or a front room suits everything else, and we carry lighting so an indoor session works whatever the window is doing.
We love to. Puppies and kittens change so quickly, and a session near London preserves those precious first weeks. We keep everything soft and playful, working in short bursts and letting the little one wander, so its character shines through in every frame. For Sutton bookings, getting here is simple: Sutton station is served by Thameslink and Southern trains on the Sutton and Mole Valley lines.
Serving Sutton
Clients come to us from all over London, including Sutton (Greater London). It sits close to Croydon and Merton, which we cover too. We can photograph at the studio or on location in Sutton, whichever suits you best.
Sutton is a south London borough town with a diverse community, known for its green spaces and busy High Street. Sutton station is served by Thameslink and Southern trains on the Sutton and Mole Valley lines. For relaxed outdoor photographs around Sutton, we like Nonsuch Park, and Nonsuch Mansion is a well-known local backdrop.

Coat colour sets the exposure and the open grass of Nonsuch Park makes that harder than it needs to be. Sunlit grass throws a great deal of light back, so a dark dog metered for the scene arrives as a black shape with the face missing, and eyes that were never recorded cannot be retrieved afterwards. We expose for the animal and let the grass go bright, or better, work the last hour or so of usable light, when the whole scene falls into a range a camera can actually hold. Pale dogs suffer the reverse and want those same hours for the opposite reason. Footing and edges matter as much as light. Two hundred and seventy acres gives a dog room to run itself properly tired, but a park that size also has main routes, other dogs and boundaries beyond which a south London borough carries on as usual, so any dog whose recall depends on the wind wears a long line, kept loose and trailing out of shot, and we work well off the thoroughfares. Old and anxious animals get the opposite plan. We stay near the car, break the hour into short bursts, and finish on the dog's cue rather than on a shot list. For a cat, a house rabbit or a dog that dislikes strangers, the park is beside the point. Those sessions happen in the animal's own rooms, where it has already concluded that nothing is going to happen to it, and we carry enough light to work wherever it settles.
