For Haringey
The lead comes off only where that is safe and only if recall is honest; otherwise a trailing line goes on and gets painted out afterwards, which nobody can see in the finished picture.
Sessions run to around an hour, which is more than most dogs will give in concentration, so the last part is loose and unposed. Edited images arrive in a gallery within two weeks, and anything with a lead in it is cleaned up before you see it.

What we offer
Dogs photographed on open ground in Haringey; cats, rabbits and elderly animals indoors at your own address.
Trailing lines and clips are edited out, so a dog with shaky recall still looks free.
Led by the animal, not by a shot list, and stopped the moment it stops enjoying itself.
Twenty-five years behind the lens
Shutter noise startles some animals, so the first exposures are made from across the room, letting a dog associate the sound with a treat rather than a surprise. We photograph owners with their pets too, capturing the easy affection between you and your animal without stiff posing.
Family portraits with the pet included are a lovely option, so everyone, four legs and two, is in the frame. Outdoor sessions can take place on a walk your dog already knows, which is usually where its best behaviour and its happiest expression both live.

Good to know
Yes, gladly. Pictures of people with their pets are often the most touching of all. You can be right there in the frame, sharing that bond, or hover just out of view to keep your animal calm and looking exactly where we need it. We cover Haringey and nearby Crouch End, Muswell Hill and Wood Green.
Yes. Haringey is a routine journey for us and the whole kit travels, so nothing has to be at your end beforehand. Most dog sessions start at the house so the animal meets us on its own territory, then move to open ground once it has stopped caring that we are there. Cats and smaller animals stay indoors throughout.
Allow about ninety minutes in Haringey, of which perhaps forty are actual photography. The rest is the walk to wherever the lead can safely come off, the settling in, and the pauses when a dog has decided it has had enough. Older animals get less and get it in shorter goes. If your dog tires quickly, say so at booking and we will keep to one location.
A set of carefully edited photographs that show your pet exactly as it is. From that gallery you are free to order prints, framed pictures or canvases for your walls. We work to a fast turnaround, so there is very little waiting before you see the results. Around Haringey we plan for landmarks such as Alexandra Palace, the Victorian entertainment venue known as Ally Pally.
Patience is the main tool. We move slowly, speak gently and let your pet set the pace, using treats and play rather than force. The studio stays quiet and free of other animals, so nervous cats and dogs feel safe and settle in their own time. Locally in Haringey that takes in Alexandra Palace, the Victorian entertainment venue known as Ally Pally.

More in Haringey
The same studio, experience and personal care apply to every service we offer in Haringey. Explore the rest: We also cover pet photography across London, including Waltham Forest, Hounslow, Lewisham, Ealing, Merton and Kensington and Chelsea.
Haringey offers a dog two very different environments, and only one of them is a place to let it go. The town centres at Wood Green and Turnpike Lane are traffic, so anything off the lead happens on the grassland above, and the walk in between counts as a walk rather than as part of the session: an animal that has just come through busy streets needs ten minutes of sniffing before it stops treating us as one more thing to keep an eye on. The slope is the one piece of terrain that helps. Standing downhill of a dog brings the camera level with its head while we are still upright, and it lets a recall be photographed coming towards the lens rather than crossing flat ground sideways. Coat colour then decides which way we face. A black or very dark dog put on the ridge with the city behind it renders as an outline with no eyes in it, so dark coats are worked below the skyline against grass, with the light over our shoulder. Pale and sandy coats want the opposite: the duller half of the day, before the sun starts burning the detail out of them. The boating lake is useful mainly as a drinking stop and as a spot where a dog will hold still for a moment, though the churned mud at its edge in winter is real. Anxious dogs and stiff old ones do better at home on streets they already know.

How it works
Haringey is outside easy reach of our Northwood studio, so we bring the shoot to you. Weddings, events, team headshots, branding and product work are all photographed on location, with lighting brought in as needed. If you would rather use the studio you are very welcome.
