Nothing is posed for the first stretch. We walk, the children do what they do, and the frames that survive come out of that rather than out of instructions. The formal one, everybody together and facing the same way, gets taken while the youngest still has patience left.
You get the set edited in colour, with any frame that suits it also given a black and white version. Prints and albums can follow later; the files come first and they come at a size that will not fall apart when enlarged.

Every generation in the frame

- Downhills Park in Tottenham covers 12 hectares split between a recreation ground and early 19th-century formal gardens with an Italian Garden, has a playground and café, and has held a Green Flag Award since 2006. 2
- Lordship Recreation Ground on Lordship Lane, N17, opened as a public park in 1932, has a playground, splash play, a BMX track and the co-operatively run Lordship Hub community café, and has held a Green Flag Award since 2013. 3

Yes. Everything needed for a session fits in the car, and travel from Northwood is set out in your written quote. In summer a session would ideally run in the last two hours before sunset, and in winter nearer the middle of the day. Bring snacks, a spare jumper for whoever will inevitably need one, and let us start at your front door if that is easier than meeting somewhere.
We bring wraps, a beanbag and the lighting, work around feeds instead of a schedule, and allow two to three hours, most of which is waiting for a sleeping baby to cooperate.
They do not need to. We would never ask a toddler to hold a pose, so the session becomes a game and we photograph what happens naturally. Children busy with a stick, a puddle or a sibling usually give the most honest pictures of the afternoon.
Yes. In Haringey they can be done either at home or on the flat ground near the boating lake in Alexandra Park, and the hill above it is best left alone at that stage: a long uphill approach into wind is nobody's idea of a comfortable afternoon late in a pregnancy. Around thirty-two to thirty-six weeks is the window that works. Bring one fitted layer and one loose one.

The first practical question about Alexandra Park is not where to stand but how everybody gets up to where the standing happens. The view exists because the ground climbs to it, and a pushchair shoved up a slope by an adult already carrying a bag will spend more of a three year old's patience than the photography ever will. Plan the climb and it costs nothing. Ignore it and the session opens with a tired child and a short-tempered parent. Where a grandparent cannot manage a gradient, the sensible arrangement is to work within sight of wherever the car is left and walk the family down to them, which open parkland makes easy: there is no one correct backdrop up there, so the session can move to the people instead of the other way round. The boating lake earns its place for a different reason. Small children will watch water for far longer than they will watch us, so it buys the settled stretch needed for the one frame with the entire family in it, and that frame is worth making early while everyone is still fresh. Loose, moving pictures come afterwards on the grass, when nobody has to hold anything. Two things push a family session indoors instead. Height means wind, and wind on open ground is genuinely cold on a baby whatever the forecast claims the temperature is. And for children under school age, a long drive out to Northwood costs more attention than a controlled room ever gives back.
