Clothing works best when the colours sit near each other without anybody matching outright. The finished set is edited in colour, and any frame that is stronger without it comes back in black and white as well. Small children are not asked to sit still; we give them a job and photograph what happens next.

It is a first-birthday session built around a cake. Your baby is given a cake of their own, and we photograph the first careful poke, the mess and the grin that follows. It is easily among the most fun sessions we offer.
Babies do that, and it is fine. Tears, squirming and sudden sleepiness are expected, so we just stop, help settle your little one and pick up where we left off. A wobble halfway through seldom shows in the finished set.
Yes. Sessions there are run so children can move around instead of being asked to sit still, and nothing depends on anyone staying in one spot. It is also the sensible choice from Hounslow on a cold or wet day, when an outdoor session would be finished in ten minutes whatever the plan was. Bring a snack and a spare top for the youngest.
We arrange the situation and leave the expressions alone: a walk along one of the paths, everyone down on the grass together, then the children left to get on with it while the camera keeps going. There are two or three arranged frames taken quickly, because most families do want one where everybody happens to be looking. The rest is not posed at all.

A family session in Hounslow points at Lampton Park by default, and the first decision is not where in it to photograph but where to leave the car. It has plenty of room, which is a real advantage for pictures and a real problem for a pram, a toddler on foot and a grandparent who does not want a hike before anything has been taken. Where distance is a factor we agree a meeting point at the near end and work within a few minutes of it, rather than aiming for the best corner and arriving with everyone flat. Ground surface settles the rest. Mown grass takes small wheels well enough when it is dry and not at all once it is wet, so through the winter months the route runs along made paths and the family steps onto grass only for the frames that need it. If anyone in the group cannot stay on their feet for long, a bench is worth building the session around. Sitting a whole family down and photographing them from slightly above works better than it should, and it puts every face on one level. Small children give about twenty good minutes and the running order should reflect it. Everyone in one picture belongs at the beginning, while the youngest child is still watching us rather than the dog on the far path, then the adults, then whatever the children do once they have stopped performing.
