Commercial work in Hounslow is done at the client's own address rather than at a studio, and two things about the borough decide how the day gets planned. The first is the High Street. Trade here is largely small units, shops and offices with a frontage, and a frontage has to be photographed from the pavement of a road that never really empties. That puts the exterior frames in the first hour of the working day, before the shutters go up on either side and before the parking bays fill, and it puts the interior work later, once the lights are on and the space has been tidied. The second is how many people locally work shifts. Around Heathrow a team is rarely on site together on any given day, let alone at the same hour, so a set of staff pictures is normally two or three short visits rather than one long booking. That carries a direct lighting consequence: if half the team is photographed in the morning and half after dark, daylight through a window is the one variable guaranteed to change between them. The reliable approach is to shut the daylight out altogether and light the whole thing ourselves, so the second visit matches the first. Interiors along the Great West Road bring the opposite trouble, since larger units often have no usable window and a ceiling grid that turns skin green. We bring our own heads and gel whatever is left burning, or switch the room's own lighting off entirely and start from nothing.
