Absolutely. Nervous cats simply need time, and we give it freely. We keep the studio quiet and calm, let your cat explore at its own pace, and only begin once it feels curious rather than cautious. Patience, not force, brings out a timid animal's true character. This applies across Wembley and Preston, Tokyngton and Stonebridge.
That is completely normal and rarely a problem. We work with a lively dog rather than against it, catching its character between the games. For dogs from Wembley, we happily embrace the action too, with spirited shots mid-leap. Stillness is never needed for a great portrait.
Plan on an hour at the park, of which perhaps twenty-five minutes is actual photography. Dogs concentrate in bursts of a couple of minutes, then need to go and sniff something, and pushing past that point produces flat ears in every frame. We stop when the pictures stop improving, not when a clock says so. Older animals at home usually need less.

King Edward VII Park is where most Wembley dog sessions happen, and the honest qualification is that a park sitting inside a built-up district has roads on all sides. That is no reason to work elsewhere. It is a reason to settle in advance whether we can let the dog loose at all. Where recall is dependable we use the open middle of the park and let it run. Where recall is unreliable, a long line does nearly everything an unrestrained frame does, provided it stays slack, drops into the grass, and is shot from far enough away to fall outside the picture. Coat colour then decides the exposure, and the exposure decides the hour. A dog with a black or near-black coat standing on sunlit grass hands you one of two failures: keep the grass and the dog collapses into a silhouette, or keep the dog and the grass burns to white. Neither is repairable later. The remedy is cloud, or the final hour before sunset, when coat and ground sit close enough together for a single frame to carry both. Two local cautions. Stadium event days push crowd noise across a wide area, and an anxious or reactive dog should not be booked into one. And an old dog with stiff joints does better photographed at home, on floors it trusts, than asked to work a park at all.

From Wembley to the studio
The studio is about 6 miles from Wembley, at The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6 1NU. Walk in for passport and ID photos, printed while you wait, or bring prints, frames, old photographs and negatives for us to work on in house. We are open Mon to Sat 10:30 to 18:00, Sun 13:00 to 18:00.
