For Hillingdon
The session is run by the animal rather than by a plan. A nervous dog gets the opening stretch of time to lose interest in us, and nothing is asked of it until it has.
Treats and a familiar toy stay with the owner, who does most of the handling. We use long lenses so the camera stays out of the animal's space, and leads are taken out of the chosen frames afterwards. Sessions are kept short by design, because an animal that has run out of patience cannot be talked back into it.

What we offer
Off-lead frames at Hillingdon Court Park when recall is reliable, and a trailing line when it is not.
Dark-coated dogs booked for low sun, so the coat keeps its shape against bright green grass.
Older and anxious animals stay in their own garden, photographed at whatever pace they will give.
Local and experienced
We learn a little about your pet beforehand, its favourite games, treats and quirks, so the session is built around it. Horses are photographed in the yard or the field rather than anywhere unfamiliar, with the handler kept close and just outside the edge of the frame.
Studio sessions suit calm cats and small pets, while energetic dogs often do best on an outdoor run. Frames of an animal on its own and frames with its owner are both taken, since the second kind is the one people wish they had later.

Good to know
Yes, and it is worth saying so at the enquiry, because a dog changes where the session goes. A Hillingdon family with a dog does better outdoors at Hillingdon Court Park than in a studio, where an excited animal has nowhere to put its energy. We photograph the family first, add the dog while it is still interested, and give somebody the job of holding treats out of shot.
Please do. A favourite toy or a pocket of treats helps your pet relax and gives us a way to catch its eye. When you visit us from Hillingdon, know that we bring plenty of our own too, plus squeaky toys and a range of very silly noises.
A gallery of beautifully edited images that capture your pet's true character. You can then pick prints, frames or canvases to display at home in Hillingdon. Because our turnaround stays quick, you will see your photographs soon after the session rather than weeks later.
Yes. Hillingdon sessions run at Hillingdon Court Park for dogs with reliable recall, in your garden for anxious or elderly animals, and at the Northwood studio when a plain background is wanted. We also cover Ruislip, Cowley and West Drayton. Bring the lead you normally use and something the dog will genuinely come back for; treats it ignores at home get ignored in the park too.
Of course. Photographing several pets from one household is something we do often, together and separately. Mixed groups of cats and dogs are very welcome, and we patiently wait to get everyone facing the right way at once. Bringing a helper for each animal makes things smoother. Getting to Hillingdon is straightforward for us: served by Hillingdon (Swakeleys) and Uxbridge tube stations on the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines, near the A40 Western Avenue.

Hillingdon Court Park is where most dog sessions in this borough would go, and the reason is open ground rather than scenery. A dog that will not settle indoors usually settles once it has been allowed to move, so the opening part of a session is spent letting the excitement burn off before anything is asked of the animal. Traffic decides much of the rest. The A40 Western Avenue runs through the borough, and engine noise carries further across open grass than most owners expect. For an animal that reacts to it, we put as much grass as possible between the session and the road and keep a long line attached however good the recall normally is, because a park is not the place to discover that it has limits. Coat colour changes the exposure problem completely. Grass is bright and throws light back; a black or very dark coat does neither, and a camera set correctly for one loses the other. The answer is not to open up the exposure but a low sun coming in from the side, laying a rim of light along the back and the shoulder. That edge is the only that holds a dark animal apart from dark ground. Flat overcast removes it, so a black dog is worth booking for the beginning or the end of a bright day rather than the middle of a grey one. For a stiff or elderly dog the park is the wrong call altogether. We come to the house instead, and build the session around the few minutes the animal is comfortable on its feet.
