Sessions are short on purpose, thirty to forty minutes, because attention rather than daylight is the limit. Calm frames come first while concentration is intact; the charging about is saved for the end, where nothing is lost if it falls apart. Anxious animals get an opening stretch with no camera lifted at all. Edited frames follow within about a fortnight, colour and monochrome versions together, with a square crop for social use.

Edgware is suburb rather than open country, and for a dog session that comes down to what sits on the far side of the fence. Roads are close to most usable ground here, so anything off lead happens only where the enclosure is genuine, and a long line is the default everywhere else. It trails outside the frame and is removed later, which costs a few minutes of editing and buys the freedom to let an animal move. Canons Park is the obvious choice, and a designed landscape helps for an unglamorous reason: made paths keep their surface, so a session does not finish with a soaked, mud heavy dog half an hour before the best light arrives. Both also do better somewhere already comfortable, the garden, the doorstep, the pavement walked every day, than in a spot chosen for how well it photographs. Camera at ground level, no calling, no whistling, and the animal sets the speed.

Visiting the studio from Edgware
The studio is at The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6 1NU, about 6 miles from Edgware, and its quiet room suits cats and small pets. Pets can be photographed there by appointment alongside portrait, family and headshot sittings, and printing, framing, restoration and scanning are done in house. Pet sittings at the studio can be booked between 10:30 and 18:00 Monday to Saturday, or between 13:00 and 18:00 on Sunday.
