We are calm and unhurried at the mosque, gathering the whole nikah without ever getting in the imam's way. We are at ease with multi-day Muslim celebrations and intimate nikah ceremonies at home alike. Our approach is quietly documentary, so you can pray the dua and say the ijab-e-qubool without a lens in your face.

For many families the qazi conducts the ceremony, and we photograph it exactly as you keep it. The imam's khutbah and the dua that follows are moments of stillness we photograph with respect. We keep our distance during the most sacred moments and step in only for the joyful ones.

The dholki brings evenings of singing and drumming before the wedding, and we photograph their energy. The mehndi night is full of colour, music and dancing, and often holds the warmest moments of all. The henna of the mehndi is intricate and detailed, and we photograph both the design and the laughter around it.
