We move softly around the imam through the nikah, capturing the real moments rather than staging them. When there is time for couple portraits, Ruislip Woods National Nature Reserve, the largest area of ancient woodland in Greater London is a favourite, and Ruislip Lido, a nineteenth century reservoir with a sandy beach and miniature railway makes a memorable setting.

The rukhsati, when the bride leaves with the groom, is the most tender moment, and we photograph it gently. We are mindful of every family's customs at the nikah, Pakistani, Bengali, Arab or Turkish. We work quietly around the imam so the nikah is never disturbed.

From the henna of the mehndi to the music of the dholki, the events set the tone for the wedding. The mehndi, the dholki and the walima each carry their own mood, and we photograph them all. The music and dancing of the mehndi are pure joy, and we capture every bit of the energy.
