A sitting is deliberately unhurried. We walk a short circuit, use two or three positions instead of standing in one, and show you the pictures on the camera during the session, so anything you dislike gets changed there and then rather than raised later.
The edited pictures land in a private gallery, with big files for printing beside small ones for screens. Retouching is done by hand and only on frames you have chosen yourself: it clears the temporary things and leaves the rest of the face exactly as it is.

What we offer
Outdoor portrait sittings in Ruislip Woods or by the Manor Farm walls, with our Northwood room as backup.
Individuals, couples and single portraits, planned around the season instead of squeezed into one convenient hour.
Hand retouching on your chosen frames, with print files and screen files in one gallery.
Twenty-five years behind the lens
Retouching is natural and light, smoothing distractions while keeping your skin, lines and character exactly as they are. We start with a friendly chat about the look you want, whether that is polished personal branding or a soft, natural portrait.
Personal-branding sets usually need one straight, approachable frame, one working or environmental frame, and one wider image with empty space for text to sit in. You are welcome to bring a few outfits, and we will help you choose what photographs best under studio light.

Good to know
The studio address is The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6, which sits in the same borough as Ruislip and on the same Underground line, so the trip is a short one. That said, most portrait bookings from Ruislip are photographed outdoors, in Ruislip Woods or beside the Manor Farm walls, and the studio is held back for days when the weather makes outdoor work pointless.
We do, and they are a joy to make. Graduation marks real hard work, so we photograph it with warmth, in cap and gown if you wish. Sit for the portraits alone or with proud family, and choose prints, frames or an album to keep the day alive. Landmarks we can work with near Ruislip include Ruislip Lido, a nineteenth century reservoir with a sandy beach and miniature railway.
Yes, and sparingly. Whether your session is in Ruislip or at Northwood, we remove only fleeting distractions like a loose hair or blemish, keeping your natural skin, lines and character intact. The result is a flattering, honest portrait that looks like you, not a heavily retouched picture.
Yes, portfolios are one of our specialities. Whether you are based in Ruislip or travelling in, we build a varied set of looks and lighting styles, from clean commercial frames to more characterful ones. We know what casting looks for, and guide your expressions and poses throughout.
That depends on the kind of session you want and what you choose afterwards, whether digital files only or prints, frames, canvases and albums. Let us know what you have in mind, from a personal-branding set to a graduation portrait, and we will prepare a clear quote for you. For outdoor photographs in Ruislip we would suggest Ruislip Woods National Nature Reserve, the largest area of ancient woodland in Greater London.

A Hillingdon suburb known for its lido, ancient woods and historic Manor Farm village core. Served by Ruislip station on both the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines, on the Uxbridge branch. For on-location sessions we often head to spots such as Ruislip Woods National Nature Reserve, close to the well-known Ruislip Lido.

Ruislip Woods is a National Nature Reserve, and for a sitting the useful word in that description is ancient rather than largest. Ancient woodland means old trees standing close together, and old trees shut their canopy once they are properly in leaf, so for half the year the floor takes almost nothing except hard coins of sun that fall where they fall, one on a cheek, one on a collar. No edit undoes that. The bare months are the ones to book if the trunks are meant to be in the picture, because light then comes down between them onto open ground and the wood reads as a set of upright lines with a person standing clear of it. Through the leaf months an overcast sky beats a blue one outright. What to wear is decided by the ground, not by the month. Bark, leaf litter and dead bramble all sit inside a narrow band of brown and grey, and anything from that band drops a sitter into the background instead of putting them in front of it. Something a step or two lighter than the nearest trunk keeps a shoulder line readable. White overshoots, and then competes with the face for attention. Green is worth leaving at home from late spring, for the same reason as brown. When the wood will not give us what we want, the older walls of the Manor Farm village core look the same in any month, and Northwood gives us a third option indoors, inside the same borough as the wood itself.
