Serving Stanmore
Portrait sittings in Stanmore happen either outdoors, on the town's high ground and its quieter green edges, or indoors in the Northwood room. Most enquiries here are single sitters and couples, plus occasions that only come round once, such as a graduation or a retirement. Canons Park, Wealdstone and Bushey fall inside the same coverage, and nothing about the process changes.
The craft point worth knowing before you choose is that Stanmore hands you two opposite backgrounds: pale and distant from the high ground, dark and close beneath the reserve canopy. Say which appeals and the clothing advice follows from that, rather than the reverse.

What we offer
Outdoor sittings on Stanmore's high ground, with the Northwood room available when an afternoon turns wet.
One sitter, a couple or a small group, photographed against real distance rather than a convenient hedge.
Hand-retouched frames in a private gallery, delivered at print resolution and again at website dimensions.
Local and experienced
A sitting takes roughly an hour, the bulk of that spent shifting from one spot to the next instead of standing in a single place. We work briskly at the start, before anyone has stiffened up, then slow down once the camera has been forgotten about.
A private gallery reaches you a few days later. Frames you choose are retouched by hand, so a spot goes and a stray hair goes while the face itself is left alone. Files arrive twice over: once big enough to frame, once scaled for a website.

Good to know
Yes, happily. Plenty of sessions, in the studio or around Stanmore, combine individual portraits with a few couple or group frames, and that slots easily into the time. Just let us know in advance who will be there, and we will plan the lighting and looks to suit all of you.
The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6. For a portrait in Stanmore the room is usually the wet-weather option rather than the default, since we would ordinarily begin outdoors and keep Northwood spare. If you would sooner skip outdoors altogether, say so and the whole sitting happens indoors, where the light is ours to set instead of the sky's.
Two or three tones rather than a pattern, and nothing with a fine repeat, which turns to mush once a picture is small. On Stanmore's high ground the background is pale, so mid and deep tones keep their shape; beneath the reserve canopy it works the other way about. Long sleeves are usually kinder than bare arms, and wear footwear that can take mud.
We do, and love it. Portraits suit every age, and we are especially patient and gentle with young children, letting them set the pace. Whether it is a single child, siblings, or a wider group, we keep the mood playful and relaxed so the pictures feel natural and warm. Stanmore and neighbouring Canons Park, Wealdstone and Bushey are all covered.
Certainly. Personal-branding portraits are planned around the impression you want to make, whether warm and approachable, creative or more authoritative. You come away with a range of assured images for your website, social profiles and wider professional presence, all shot with flattering, professional lighting. Outdoors in Stanmore we would head for Stanmore Country Park, known for its views across London.

Stanmore Country Park is known for its views across London, and a view is a background made of distance rather than of objects. That one difference decides where a sitting goes. Distant London reads as a pale grey band at most hours, lighter than any face put in front of it, so the exposure has to pick a side: hold the skin and let the city wash out, or hold the city and lose the sitter to a silhouette. We hold the skin. The view survives as a soft suggestion past the shoulder, which is what people remember of it anyway. The town offers the opposite register a short walk from that same ground. Stanmore's nature reserves are enclosed, green and dim, and a face there sits against a tone deeper than itself. Those are the two options here, and the clothing decision follows whichever gets picked: out on the open view, mid and deep tones separate a figure from the pale distance, while under the reserve canopy anything approaching charcoal sinks straight in, and something a stop or two lighter than the leaves is the safer call. Season swings this harder than any forecast will. From late spring the reserve paths are roofed over and lose several stops, while the open ground stays workable throughout; by winter the reserves have opened up again and the view itself is cleaner, cold air carrying less haze than warm. A January sitting and a July sitting in Stanmore get planned in opposite directions, so the month you enquire in shapes the answer as much as the weather on the day does.
