Portraits that look like you in Pinner

The ground, the hour and the wet weather fallback are all agreed when you book, so nothing is being decided in a gateway on the day. We look at the first pictures together early, while a change of top or a change of position still costs nothing.

You then receive a private gallery of finished work, colour throughout with monochrome versions of the frames that earn them, retouched by hand and supplied large enough for a wall as well as a phone.

Why choose us

The right portrait photographer for Pinner

Direction is given in small pieces, one instruction at a time, because a list of five adjustments at once is how a sitter ends up looking like a shop mannequin. For actor and model portfolios, we build a varied set of looks and lighting styles, so your portfolio has real range.

Makeup can be a little heavier than you would wear to work, because a camera flattens it, but nothing should be tried for the first time that morning. Couples, siblings and small groups can be added to an individual sitting, and mixing solo frames with paired ones costs nothing beyond a little extra time.

Good to know

Portrait Photographer in Pinner, FAQs

Two kinds. At Northwood the ground behind you is a plain tone, lit on its own, so it can read light, mid grey or near black without you moving. In Pinner the backdrops are already there: the pond and fountain in Pinner Memorial Park, the mature grounds, the painted High Street frontages. Outdoors we shape daylight with reflectors and only add flash when the sky has gone dead.

Because the plan is settled before you book. In Pinner we would work Pinner Memorial Park outward from the water, taking the pond edge for the light it returns upward, the mature grounds only when the sun is low or the trees are bare, and the High Street in reserve for wind. Northwood is a direct journey on the same line, so weather rarely cancels anything.

Yes, we do. For clients in Pinner and beyond, personal-branding sessions are built around how you want to be seen, be that approachable, creative or authoritative. You leave with a varied set of confident images for your website, profiles and professional presence, all under flattering studio lighting.

Not long at all, as we keep turnaround fast. Once the shoot is finished, we edit your images with care and send you a gallery to pick your favourites from. Prints, frames, canvases or albums you go on to order then arrive shortly after that. Locally in Pinner that takes in West House and the Heath Robinson Museum, set within Pinner Memorial Park.

Either. The studio is The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6, and from Pinner that is a direct Metropolitan line journey with nothing to change onto. If you would sooner stay local, we travel to you, and to Hatch End, North Harrow and Rayners Lane, meeting either at your own front door or at a spot in Pinner Memorial Park agreed in advance.

Pinner Memorial Park is where most sittings here end up, and the pond is the reason rather than the twelve acres. Still water is not a river. It holds a mirror of the sky and hands it back as one large panel: small and of little use on a hard blue day, but under cloud the whole sky repeated at ground level. A sitter facing it takes an even wash across the eyes and loses the hard line beneath the jaw. An overcast forecast is no reason to move a sitting here, only a reason to move it to the water. The mature grounds are the opposite problem. Grown trees in leaf throw broken light, which lands on a face as a scatter of bright coins that no later work removes. From late spring the ground beneath the canopy is only reliable once the sun is low enough to come in sideways under the leaves. In winter the same trees are bare, the light arrives whole, and the interior of the park becomes the better half of it. Dress for separation, not colour. Between April and October the park reads as one band of green and brown, so olives and tans sink into it, while a top clearly lighter or darker than the trees keeps its edge. In winter, against bare branches and a pale sky, the risk reverses and unbroken black flattens to an outline. The preserved High Street is the fallback when wind makes the park unworkable: brick and painted frontages, small repeating detail that reads as texture only when the sitter stands well clear of it.
