You handle the dog and we do the rest. Bring the treat or the toy that genuinely works, tell us the recall honestly, and we will match the length of the session to the animal instead of to the clock. We work at the animal's own eye level, which is lower than it sounds.
Anything nervous or elderly gets a shorter booking and a slower start, and you receive the same finished gallery either way, cropped for print and for the phone the pictures will actually live on.

We keep sessions deliberately brief. An hour is ample, because few animals hold their interest for much longer. That makes the yard's routine the timetable rather than the light: we fit around turnout, feeding and whatever the day already demands, and the ground and buildings on site decide what is possible. Darker coats want the softer ends of the day, because high sun burns the shoulder and darkens the eye.
Yes, and gently. Rescue cats from Pinner are always welcome, and we never rush them. In a quiet studio, or at home if it is calmer there, we wait until your cat is settled before starting. A shy animal shows its character only when it is left to come round in its own time.

Allow roughly an hour in Pinner, and expect the best frames inside the first half of that. Animals give attention early and it does not return on request, so we would rather finish while your dog still wants to be there than grind out a full booking. Nervous and elderly animals get shorter sessions on ground they already know.

The pond decides the running order of a pet session in Pinner Memorial Park. A dog that gets into water comes out a different animal to photograph: fur lies flat, the texture that makes a coat read as a coat is gone, and a dark dog goes from black to blacker. So the water is where a session ends, never where it begins. Everything needing the animal to look like itself happens first, and the swim is the reward. Coat colour then decides the ground. Deep shade beneath grown trees is the worst place in the park for a dark dog, because coat and background sit at nearly the same brightness and the outline disappears into it. The edge of the pond corrects that, since open water behind an animal is almost always brighter than the animal, and a shape that had vanished comes back with a rim of light along the back. A pale coat is the reverse, and looks best in the shade that swallows a dark dog. Moving water is also a noise, and noise is not neutral. Anything unsure of new places should begin well away from the fountain and approach only if it chooses to, which usually takes a few minutes of being ignored. Whether the lead comes off is a matter for the park's own rules and your honest view of your dog's recall, worth settling before you arrive, because it changes where we work and which lens we use. An elderly animal, a cat, or a dog that finds the car worse than the destination is better photographed indoors, in its own rooms.
