Ten minutes can cover everything, which leaves no rehearsal and nothing to repeat, so we stand where we intend to stay before anybody sits down. Paperwork at a table follows, and paperwork photographs best plainly: the pen, the hands, the witnesses leaning in. We never stage that signing, nor ask for it a second time, since what is being signed is a legal document, not a prop.

A walima is the second job of the same day, and it is nothing like the first. Banqueting suites tend to be built with few windows, so the evening light is whatever gets rigged, and colour temperature belongs to whoever set the uplighters. We bring our own for the entrance and the top table, keep it soft, and let the room's colour stand everywhere else, so the pictures still resemble the party your guests remember.
