Interpretation for guests who do not follow Arabic or Urdu is common at mixed families' ceremonies, and we cover the interpreter and the couple together so the album records how everyone was included.

The henna is applied to the bride first and then to the sisters and cousins, and we photograph the artist at work and the patterns spreading hand to hand. At the walima, the reception hosted by the groom's family, we photograph the entrance, the greetings and the two families celebrating the marriage together. Turkish families may hold a kina gecesi rather than a mehndi, with its own songs and its own moment of tears, and we learn the shape of your evening before we arrive.
