Whatever food or toy your dog genuinely responds to is worth having in a pocket. We work in bursts with pauses between, and the session ends when the animal has stopped caring, not when a plan says it should.
Where a lead was needed for safety it comes out in the edit, so no risk is taken merely to gain a cleaner frame. The finished set is colour, with a mono conversion of any dark coated animal included as well, since that is frequently the stronger of the two frames.

What we offer
Dogs photographed on ground they already use, at their height, with the session ending when they say so.
Older animals and cats stay at home for the session, since travel costs them more than the picture is worth.
Dark coated dogs given flat light or the last hour, so the coat keeps detail instead of going solid.
Twenty-five years behind the lens
Ask what an animal genuinely loves, whether that is a ball, a squeaky toy, cheese or one particular word, and build the whole session around the answer. We keep sessions short enough to stay fun, reading when your pet has had enough and finishing while it is still enjoying itself.
You can bring more than one animal, and we are glad to photograph pets together or one at a time. Horses and ponies are photographed at the yard, and it is worth having them groomed and tacked before the session begins rather than during it.

Good to know
Absolutely, bring them along. A favourite toy or a handful of treats helps your pet relax and gives us a way to catch its gaze. We stock plenty ourselves too, from squeaky toys to a whole repertoire of very silly noises when they are needed. Landmarks we can work with near North Harrow include Headstone Manor, a moated medieval manor house nearby.
A wonderful variety. Dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, rabbits, guinea pigs, horses and more all come before our lens. We are happy to photograph almost any pet, and glad to chat about an unusual one beforehand. Each session gets the same care, patience and quick timing. We cover North Harrow and nearby Pinner, Harrow-on-the-Hill and West Harrow.
Yes, at the yard. A horse travels for its own reasons, never for a photograph, which puts turnout and feeding in charge of the timing instead of the light. We work in whichever window the yard allows; for a dark coat, make that window an early one or the final hour. The footing in the yard's own school or field then decides how much movement is possible.
We do. As well as your edited digital gallery, there are fine prints, framed pictures and canvases to choose from, ready to hang in your North Harrow home. We will happily talk you through the sizes and finishes that will look best on your walls.
You receive a gallery of carefully edited photographs that show your pet exactly as you know it. From there you can choose prints, framed pictures or canvases for the wall. We keep the turnaround fast, so you are not left waiting to see the results. For outdoor photographs in North Harrow we would suggest Headstone Manor Recreation Ground.
Serving North Harrow
We photograph pet sessions right across Greater London, and North Harrow (HA2) is well within our regular patch. It sits close to Hatch End and Rayners Lane, which we cover too. You are always welcome at the Northwood studio too.
A residential Harrow suburb largely built in the interwar Metro-land era. Served by North Harrow tube station on the Metropolitan line, on Pinner Road. For relaxed outdoor photographs around North Harrow, we like Headstone Manor Recreation Ground, and Headstone Manor is a well-known local backdrop.
More in North Harrow
The same studio, experience and personal care apply to every service we offer in North Harrow. Explore the rest: We also cover pet photography across Greater London, including Chiswick, Pinner, Wembley, Eastcote, Ruislip Manor and North Wembley.
The station sits on Pinner Road, and a road busy enough to carry a tube station is not ground for a dog off its lead, so pet work in North Harrow concentrates on Headstone Manor Recreation Ground instead. Open mown grass suits this better than woodland does. There is nothing at nose height to disappear into, the dog can be seen coming from a distance, and a lead can be dropped and later removed from the frame in the edit if recall is honest but not perfect. Where recall is not honest, a training line is the sane choice and costs nothing in the final picture. The moat at the manor is worth naming only to say what it means underfoot: ground beside standing water stays soft longest, so after a wet week the far side of the open grass is the sounder bet. A very dark dog is the other recurring problem. Metered for the coat, the sky burns out; metered for the sky, the animal collapses to a shape with no eyes in it. The fix is flat overcast light or the final hour of the day, with the sun low and behind the camera so a little of it reaches the eyes. Older dogs and anxious ones are better photographed at home, in rooms they know, where nothing new has to be learned first and the session can stop the moment interest goes.
