Nothing about the session is hurried. The dog sets the tempo and we photograph what it does anyway, from low down, roughly level with its chest. Treats are the ones you brought, not novelties it has never smelled before.
Older or anxious dogs get a shorter session on ground they walk regularly, and we stop the moment the animal has plainly had enough of us. You receive the frames where the dog looks like itself, leads and lines cleaned out, ready for printing large if one earns it.

What we offer
Dog sessions on Croxley Common Moor or quieter ground, planned around whatever the reserve permits that day.
Long lead work is standard, and the lead is cleaned out afterwards so the picture reads as free running.
Low camera position, short sessions and treats you brought, so nervous animals are never cornered.
Local and experienced
In the studio we keep the space quiet and welcoming, giving cats in particular the time they need to feel safe. In the studio we keep the space quiet and welcoming, giving cats in particular the time they need to feel safe.
We can photograph senior pets gently and calmly, giving families beautiful pictures of a much-loved older animal. Reactive or anxious dogs are booked in at quiet times, and the plan is agreed with you in advance rather than worked out on arrival.

Good to know
A set of carefully edited photographs that show your pet exactly as it is. From that gallery you are free to order prints, framed pictures or canvases for your walls. We work to a fast turnaround, so there is very little waiting before you see the results. Getting to Croxley Green is straightforward for us: Croxley station sits on the Watford branch of the London Underground Metropolitan line, between Watford and Moor Park.
Hardly anything. A good walk can calm an excitable dog, and a slightly hungry pet usually shows more interest in treats. Pack a favourite toy, then simply let your animal be itself. We will take care of the patience, the play and the perfect timing. Outdoors in Croxley Green we would head for Croxley Common Moor, a 39.5 hectare Site of Special Scientific Interest and Local Nature Reserve.
Of course. Anxious cats just need patience, and we have plenty. We keep everything quiet and calm, let your cat wander and sniff at its own speed, and wait until curiosity replaces caution before we start. Gentleness reveals a shy animal's true nature. Croxley Green and neighbouring Cassiobury, Oxhey and Moor Park are all covered.
Of course. Photographing several pets from one household is something we do often, together and separately. Mixed groups of cats and dogs are very welcome, and we patiently wait to get everyone facing the right way at once. Bringing a helper for each animal makes things smoother. Landmarks we can work with near Croxley Green include all Saints Church and the historic tree lined village green known as The Green.
Absolutely. Some of our favourite pictures show an owner and their pet together, and we would love that for you in Croxley Green. Join the frame to capture your bond, or stay just outside it to keep your animal settled and facing the camera.

Croxley Common Moor is the obvious ground for a dog session here, and also the one thing that has to be settled before the day, because it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Local Nature Reserve rather than a park. Land carrying that designation is managed for what grows and lives on it, not for dogs running about across it, so what is permitted can differ between one part of the reserve and another, and can change with the season. We do not turn up assuming open running. Check what is posted, tell us what it says, and the session gets built around that answer: if it is leads only, we shoot walking pictures on a long line, keep the line outside the frame and clean it out afterwards. Footing decides as much as the rules do. A dog standing in tall vegetation loses its legs and its ground line, so we work low, at roughly the animal's chest height, and hunt out the shorter grazed patches where the whole shape of it reads. Dark coats want the camera angled slightly down onto ground rather than up into a bright sky, or the fur closes up into a silhouette. Water is worth deciding in advance. The valleys either side of the village mean running water is never far off a walk, and a soaked coat goes dark and flat and loses everything that made it worth photographing. If your dog is going in, it goes in after we have finished. Old dogs get a short session on ground that is part of their daily walk.
