For Amersham
The camera stays back and the lens does the reaching, which keeps a stranger out of the space of a dog that would sooner not have one near it. Dogs that are anxious, deaf or slow on their feet get a session anchored to one spot they can keep returning to, instead of a walk.
Bring the squeakiest thing you own and food better than the stuff at home. Leads come out in editing where they need to, so a dog that has never once come back when called is still perfectly photographable.

What we offer
Off-lead work at Shardeloes where recall can be trusted, and on the lead everywhere else without it showing.
Dark coats lit deliberately, so black fur holds its texture rather than flattening into a silhouette.
A pair of dogs in one frame, or a dog with its owner, both worth a longer booking.
Why choose us
Outdoor sessions are timed for early morning or late afternoon, partly for the light and partly because a park is quieter and there is far less to chase. We keep our movements slow and our voices gentle, so timid animals stay settled and the session never feels rushed.
Studio sessions suit calm cats and small pets, while energetic dogs often do best on an outdoor run. Home sessions suit cats, small pets and anxious dogs, since the animal never has to leave the one place where it already feels completely safe.

Good to know
Certainly. Horses and ponies are photographed on their own ground, at the stables or in the field around Buckinghamshire, while rabbits, guinea pigs and other small pets come to the studio. Every animal is met with the same calm, unhurried patience. Amersham and neighbouring Little Chalfont, Coleshill and Old Amersham are all covered.
Yes. We often photograph several animals from one household, together and individually. Mixed groups of cats and dogs are welcome, and we take the time to get everyone looking the right way at the right moment. Bringing a helper for each pet can make it easier. Around Amersham we plan for landmarks such as the 17th century Market Hall in Old Amersham, alongside St Mary's Church.
The address is The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6. Most dog sessions from Amersham are outdoors instead, at Shardeloes or along whatever the usual walk is. Indoors is the better call for smaller pets that travel poorly, and for very dark coats, where controlled light achieves what a grey afternoon in the parkland will not.
Nothing to worry about, it happens all the time. Rather than fight an energetic dog, we go with it, finding character in the gaps between play. Many Buckinghamshire dogs give us wonderful action shots mid-bound. A brilliant portrait never depends on sitting perfectly still. Outdoors in Amersham we would head for Shardeloes, the parkland and lake beside the Georgian country house on the edge of Old Amersham.
Yes. Amersham is covered as standard from Northwood, along with Little Chalfont, Coleshill and Old Amersham. With animals the visit tends to produce better pictures anyway, because a pet on its own territory behaves like itself instead of like a pet at a photographer's. Tell us where you usually park and where the lead normally comes off, and that is the spot we will meet you at.
Serving Amersham
Amersham is a Chilterns market town with old and new quarters, in Buckinghamshire. It sits close to Denham and Chesham, which we cover too. From our Northwood base we reach Amersham easily, whether you prefer a studio sitting or pet photography on location.
Amersham is a Chilterns market town split between the historic Old Amersham and the newer Amersham-on-the-Hill built up around the station. Amersham station is a shared terminus for the London Underground Metropolitan line and Chiltern Railways. For on-location sessions we often head to spots such as Shardeloes, close to the well-known The 17th century Market Hall in Old Amersham.
More in Amersham
The same studio, experience and personal care apply to every service we offer in Amersham. Explore the rest: We also cover pet photography across Buckinghamshire, including Chalfont St Peter, Chesham, Denham, Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield.
Dog photography in Amersham divides along the same line the town itself does. The old town has narrow pavements with traffic running through them, so anything taken there happens on a lead, and early, before the shops have opened. Shardeloes is where a dog gets to be a dog, and the lake is more use to us than it sounds. A dog runs the length of a body of water rather than straight across it, which puts the sprinting frames on a line that can be predicted, and that decides whether the focus lands or merely comes close. Stand along that line, wait, and the same animal will come past four or five times. Coat colour settles the rest. A pale or sandy dog set against dry summer grass loses its outline altogether and the picture turns to mush however sharp it actually is, whereas the same animal against the water, or against the darker planting at the parkland edge, separates at once. A black dog has the opposite problem and wants its light coming from behind. We would rather ask what colour yours is at the booking than find out on arrival. Little Chalfont, Coleshill and Old Amersham are all within reach, which counts for any animal that arrives somewhere already worn out by the business of getting there. None of this suits a cat, which is better photographed indoors.

How it works
We travel to Amersham rather than asking you to travel to us. On-location coverage suits weddings, corporate events, team headshots and product shoots, and we bring whatever lighting the space needs. The Northwood studio is available too if you prefer it.
