Chesham and nearby
Expect a shorter booking than you have set aside. A dog spends its best twenty minutes at the start and what follows is a heavier version of the same animal, so anything needing energy is taken at the front and the settled frames are collected later.
You get movement and at least one calm portrait, since the one that gets framed and hung is nearly always the quiet one. Nervous and elderly animals are handled in brief spells with long rests between, and nothing is held in place for a camera.

What we offer
Dog bookings on the green at Lowndes Park, with cats, rabbits and quieter animals done indoors.
Shot low, down at whatever level the animal is on, and off the lead where that is possible.
Dark coats are lit for rather than repaired later, using whatever surface throws light back at them.
Why choose us
Treats are used sparingly and rotated, because an animal that has already eaten twenty pieces of chicken stops caring very much about the twenty-first. Working dogs and house pets are approached differently. A gundog is used to commands and responds to them, while a family dog responds to its name and a squeaky toy.
We offer wall art, albums and desk prints, so the character of your pet can be enjoyed around the whole home. Owners are welcome to join their pets in the pictures, or to stay just out of frame keeping their animal relaxed.

Good to know
The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6. From Chesham the Metropolitan line goes there without a change, though a dog usually arrives by car. If yours has never been inside a studio, say so and the lights stay off while they sniff their way round the floor until the room stops being interesting. Bring a towel, and flag any noise they dislike.
That is completely normal and rarely a problem. We work with a lively dog rather than against it, catching its character between the games. For dogs from Chesham, we happily embrace the action too, with spirited shots mid-leap. Stillness is never needed for a great portrait.
Yes, though it happens at the yard rather than at Joel Street. We do the travelling, to Chesham or out towards Chartridge, Ley Hill and Bovingdon. Square it with the yard owner beforehand, since we need a corner off the route to turnout. It takes two, one holding and one working the ears. Avoid feed times, and have the horse clean and dry.
Yes, often. Many households in Chesham bring several animals, and we photograph them together and one by one. Mixed groups of cats and dogs are welcome, and we take our time getting everyone looking the right way. A helper for each pet makes it easier.
Yes. Lowndes Park is the usual starting point, and we would sooner meet earlier than anyone wants to. Walk the dog before we arrive, then bring a lead, a long line, a brush, a towel for the car and treats that can compete with a green full of other dogs. If yours is reactive, flag it when you book so quieter ground gets chosen first.
Serving Chesham
Chesham is well within our travel area. It sits close to Amersham and Chorleywood, which we cover too. We cover Chesham and the wider Buckinghamshire area for pet photography, on location or in the studio, with no local travel charge.
Chesham is a Chilterns town set in the Chess valley, with a long history as a market town. Chesham station is the terminus of the London Underground Metropolitan line and the furthest station from central London on the network. Sessions on location near Chesham often use Lowndes Park, with St Mary's Church close at hand.

Two things about Chesham shape a dog booking. One is that Lowndes Park is central to the town, so most dogs arrive already knowing what the place is for. They come out of the car switched on, ears up and hauling towards the green, which is excellent for anything moving and useless for anything still. The walk therefore comes first and the camera second, once the first burst has gone. Most owners plan the reverse, and getting that order right separates a booking that works from a wasted morning. The second thing is the pond. Water is a low bright surface, and on a dull day it bounces light upward, into the eyes and beneath the chin, exactly what a coat of solid black needs and cannot take from an overcast sky. Turning a dark dog so its back is to the green and its face is to the water fixes most of the problem and costs nothing to do. Out towards Ley Hill, Chartridge and Bovingdon the ground is quieter, and quiet ground is what lets a dog work off the lead when its recall is decent but no match for a green full of other dogs. Say which sort yours is when you book. Weather counts for less than owners expect, since bright overcast flatters a coat far better than sunshine does, and sunshine digs shadow into every fold of it. Elderly animals get photographed where they are already comfortable, and those bookings stay short by design.
