Barking and Dagenham and nearby
The running order is built around a short attention span rather than around the shot list. Every child in one frame comes first, while that is still possible, then the pairs, then the ones with grandparents sitting down. Whatever is left after that is a bonus and never the plan.
Expect a session measured in minutes rather than hours, and a gallery afterwards that keeps the frames where somebody is laughing at the wrong moment. Those are often the ones people order prints of.

What we offer
Family sessions in Barking and Dagenham, or indoors when the weather or a small baby decides otherwise.
We meet at the car park, so prams, bags and grandparents all start from the same point.
Group frames first, pairs second, grandparents seated last, because attention spans run out in that order.
Why choose us
We never bribe or force a smile, because the genuine ones always look better and last longer in your album. We never bribe or force a smile, because the genuine ones always look better and last longer in your album.
After your session we hand-pick and edit the images, and you view your gallery online before choosing prints or an album. Prints, canvases, framed wall art and albums are designed around your favourite portraits from the session.

Good to know
Because we arrive with the plan already made: where in Barking and Dagenham to start, at what hour, and what to do if the light or the ground has changed by the day itself. We cover the whole borough and the areas around it, so we are not tied to one spot, and the Northwood studio stays available as a fallback. You get told what to expect rather than asked what you want.
Yes, and lots of Barking and Dagenham families do. A first-year package follows your baby from their newborn session through sitting up and first steps, finishing with a cake smash on the first birthday. It is a lovely way to record just how fast they grow.
Yes. We travel to Barking and Dagenham from Northwood, and we cover Ilford, Rainham and Chadwell Heath too. Tell us which park entrance suits you and we will be there ahead of you. Arrive a little early and let the children run about before we start, rather than beginning cold. Bring a change of clothes for anyone under five, something to drink, and a favourite toy kept out of sight.
There is plenty to choose from: fine prints, framed wall art, canvases and hand-finished albums, all built around the images you love best. Once your Barking and Dagenham session is done, you browse an edited gallery online and select whatever suits your home and family.
Yes, either at home in Barking and Dagenham or at the Northwood studio. At home we need one room with a decent window and the heating turned up higher than the adults will find comfortable. Feed on demand rather than to a schedule, and let us work around it. Allow a long unhurried window; a newborn session runs to the baby's clock and cannot be squeezed into a fixed slot.
Serving Barking and Dagenham
We photograph family sessions right across London, and Barking and Dagenham (Greater London) is well within our regular patch. It sits close to Newham and Redbridge, which we cover too. You are always welcome at the Northwood studio too.
An east London borough by the river Roding, home to the Becontree estate, one of the largest council-built estates in the world. Barking station serves the District, Hammersmith and City and c2c lines, with the A13 running through the borough into central London. For relaxed outdoor photographs around Barking and Dagenham, we like Central Park in Dagenham, and Barking Abbey ruins and the 15th century Curfew Tower beside St Margaret's Church is a well-known local backdrop.

Central Park opened in 1932 on what had been Eastbrook Farm, and both halves of that sentence show up in the pictures. Ground that began as a farm is even underfoot, which is the difference between a grandparent enjoying an hour outdoors and enduring it, and it is why a pram is not a problem here. A park laid out in the thirties for a large new population was built for crowds rather than for corners, so it is broad and open, with clean uncluttered backgrounds almost everywhere and very little deep shade anywhere. The consequence is that on a bright day the whole park is one light. There is no shaded bank to retreat to when a session goes harsh, so the remedy has to be the hour rather than a change of position: early morning, or the last stretch of afternoon before dusk. On a cloudless summer midday we would move the date instead. Open ground also means wind, which small children resent far more than cold. Order of shooting matters more than location with a young family. The useful part of a session with a three year old finishes long before the adults believe it has, so we take the group frame the grandparents actually want at the start, while everyone is fresh and clean, and count everything after it as gained. When the sky is against it, or a child is small enough that warmth matters more than being outdoors, the Northwood studio is the better room and nothing about the day depends on the weather.

How it works
Barking and Dagenham is outside easy reach of our Northwood studio, so we bring the shoot to you. Weddings, events, team headshots, branding and product work are all photographed on location, with lighting brought in as needed. If you would rather use the studio you are very welcome.
