For Newham
Everybody gets photographed together at the very start, while nobody has been kept waiting and the clothes still look the way they did at the front door. The smaller pairings come after that, and the children come last of all, by which point they have decided we are harmless.
If the weather shuts us out, the booking transfers to Northwood on the same day rather than being lost altogether. Edited pictures land in a private gallery, at one size for framing and another for passing round the family.

What we offer
Outdoor family sessions across Newham, moving indoors to Northwood when February makes that the kinder option.
Group frame at the start, pairings next, children last, at a pace small people can sustain.
Grandparents, newborns and the family dog all welcome in one session, provided we know in advance.
Twenty-five years behind the lens
Timing beats everything else with small children, so sessions are booked around naps and feeds rather than around whichever slot looks tidiest in a diary. For newborns we work slowly and gently, keeping baby warm, safe and settled throughout.
Maternity photographs work best in the last few weeks before the birth, when the bump is unmistakable but sitting and standing are still comfortable. Albums are laid out as a sequence, opening with the group and closing on the smallest child, rather than as an unordered pile of favourites.

Good to know
Ideally within the first fortnight, when newborns are sleepiest and easiest to settle. Many Newham parents contact us during pregnancy, which we love, because we can then pencil in a date around when baby is due and be prepared for the big day.
All of them. Families in Newham bring newborns, babies, toddlers, children, teenagers, parents and grandparents, and we happily photograph up to four generations in a single session. Capturing every age together is the part we enjoy most, and nobody is ever left out.
Both, and the weather and the youngest child's age generally settle it between them. Outdoors in Newham means West Ham Park, where the footpaths are made up and a pram is no obstacle. Northwood is the stronger option in hard cold, in heavy rain, or on a short winter afternoon, and for a newborn it is the obvious one regardless of the forecast.
Soon, as we keep things moving swiftly. Following your Newham session, we hand-pick and edit the images with care before sharing a private gallery online. You are then free to browse and choose prints, canvases and albums whenever suits you, with no pressure.
There is plenty to choose from: fine prints, framed wall art, canvases and hand-finished albums, all built around the images you love best. Once your Newham session is done, you browse an edited gallery online and select whatever suits your home and family.
Serving Newham
Newham is a fast-changing east London borough, in London. It sits close to Tower Hamlets and Barking and Dagenham, which we cover too. From our Northwood base we reach Newham easily, whether you prefer a studio sitting or family photography on location.
A fast-changing east London borough, one of the capital's most ethnically diverse, and host of the 2012 Olympic Games. Served by Stratford station on the Elizabeth line, Jubilee line and DLR, with the A13 crossing the borough. Sessions on location near Newham often use West Ham Park, with The London Stadium in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park close at hand.
More in Newham
The same studio, experience and personal care apply to every service we offer in Newham. Explore the rest: We also cover family photography across London, including the City of London, Richmond upon Thames, Kensington and Chelsea, Camden, Wandsworth and Barnet.
Two very different pieces of ground serve family work in Newham, and they fail under opposite conditions. West Ham Park, under City of London management, is the sheltered one: made up footpaths, hedging and tree cover, and enough enclosure that a toddler who breaks away is twenty metres off rather than gone. Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is its opposite, being wide, hard surfaced and open on every side. Prams and wheelchairs roll over that surface without a fight and there is no mud in February, but nothing sits overhead either, so on a bright afternoon every face squints and every eye socket goes dark. Small children set the schedule and nothing else does. Attention from a three year old runs to about fifteen minutes, and it does not degrade gently, it stops. What follows is not a poorer version of the same thing but a different job, in which the frames come from letting the children run and photographing what happens in the gaps. That is also when the adults stop arranging themselves, which is why the frames parents keep are usually made after they gave up on the session. Anyone who tires easily needs somewhere to sit in view of the picture, which the Olympic Park provides in benches and low walls and open grass does not. Rain, hard cold or a four o'clock winter dusk is when the Northwood studio wins outright: warm, one light that never changes, and a clean floor a baby can be put down on. A session with a newborn is better indoors, cold or clear.
