Barking and Dagenham and nearby
A sitting opens with ten minutes of nothing much: where the light is falling, what you have brought to wear, which frames you actually want on a wall. We work through a short list of positions rather than wandering between them, so the useful time is not spent walking.
You receive a gallery of edited images to a stated turnaround, cropped for the uses agreed at the start. Reprints and further crops come from the same originals later, so nothing has to be photographed twice.

What we offer
Portrait sittings across Barking and Dagenham, on location in the borough or indoors at our Northwood studio.

Why choose us
We work at your pace, taking breaks and changes of outfit in our stride, so the session never feels like a production line. Retouching is natural and light, smoothing distractions while keeping your skin, lines and character exactly as they are.
A range of album styles is available, hand-finished and designed around the portraits you love most. Everything is photographed by one photographer, so the direction, the lighting and the editing all come from the same pair of eyes and stay consistent throughout.

Good to know
You get a gallery of thoughtfully edited portraits to choose your favourites from. From there, order fine prints, framed pieces, canvases or hand-finished albums, or just take the digital files. We edit gently and naturally, so every image still looks like you at your very best. Open air sessions near Barking and Dagenham can use Central Park in Dagenham, opened in 1932 on former Eastbrook Farm land.
Most people say the same thing. If it worries you, take the studio rather than public ground in Barking and Dagenham, where there is no audience and we can stop and look at the back of the camera together. Outdoors we start you walking rather than posing, so your hands have a job. Bring someone whose company relaxes you; that shifts a face faster than any instruction from us.
Bring one more top than you think you need, plain rather than patterned. If we are shooting on open ground in Barking and Dagenham, wear shoes you can stand in on wet grass for an hour, and a layer you can take off between frames. Eat first. Check the forecast the evening before rather than on the morning, and tell us if it looks wrong. We would sooner move the day than fight it.
Yes. A graduation is a genuine achievement, and we photograph it with warmth for clients across Barking And Dagenham, in gown and cap if you like. Sessions can be just you or shared with proud family, and prints, frames and albums let the moment last far beyond the day.
Yes, and sparingly. Whether your session is in Barking And Dagenham or at Northwood, we remove only fleeting distractions like a loose hair or blemish, keeping your natural skin, lines and character intact. The result is a flattering, honest portrait that looks like you, not a heavily retouched picture.
Serving Barking and Dagenham
We photograph portrait sessions right across London, and Barking and Dagenham (Greater London) is well within our regular patch. It sits close to Newham and Redbridge, which we cover too. You are always welcome at the Northwood studio too.
An east London borough by the river Roding, home to the Becontree estate, one of the largest council-built estates in the world. Barking station serves the District, Hammersmith and City and c2c lines, with the A13 running through the borough into central London. For relaxed outdoor photographs around Barking and Dagenham, we like Central Park in Dagenham, and Barking Abbey ruins and the 15th century Curfew Tower beside St Margaret's Church is a well-known local backdrop.

A ruin has no roof, and that is the most useful thing about Barking Abbey for a sitting. Daylight arrives from open sky and then comes back off pale weathered masonry standing on two or three sides of the subject, so the shadow beneath the brow and jaw stays open without anyone holding a reflector. The Curfew Tower and St Margaret's on the same site offer the opposite condition, a solid mass that blocks the sky and drops a face into clean directional shade. Having both conditions on one piece of ground is why a sitting here does not need a second location. It needs a decision about which of the two suits the face in front of the lens. Season matters less on this ground than it would in a wooded park, because there is no canopy to come and go. What changes is the angle of the sun on the stone. In winter it stays low and rakes across the masonry, and the texture behind the sitter turns strong and graphic. At midsummer noon it falls almost straight down, the walls stop returning anything useful, and the eyes go dark. That is the one part of the year worth booking around rather than working through. Clothing follows the stone. The masonry is warm, mid toned and already busy with texture, so cream, beige and anything stone coloured sinks straight into it, and a patterned shoulder fights the wall behind it. Solid mid to deep colour separates cleanly, and a cool tone counters the warmth the stone pushes back into skin.
