At a Muslim nikah we photograph the vows, the mehr and the joyful moment the couple are declared married. At a Muslim wedding, the nikah and the signing of the contract carry great dignity, and we cover them with respect.
The reception dance floor fills late and empties later, and the bhangra at the end is reliably the loosest and happiest material of the entire wedding. Walima belongs to the groom's family and is often the more formal of the two Muslim celebrations, and we photograph it with that shift in tone in mind. We capture the lively baraat as the groom arrives, with the dhol, the dancing and the milni.
