Havering and nearby
Nothing is timed to the minute. We allow for the walk from the car, the change of mind at the gate, and the ten minutes a three year old spends deciding we are not interesting. In practice the photography is forty minutes inside a longer booking.
You get an edited gallery rather than a card of everything. Files come sized for printing and for sending to relatives, and the group frames are supplied with enough room around the edges to crop them square later.

What we offer
Family sessions on flat ground close to where you park, with any hill kept firmly optional.
Grandparents, prams and toddlers all want the same three things: level ground, short distances, somewhere to sit.
Small children photograph best in their first good hour of the day; late afternoon is usually a gamble.
Why choose us
Children are not asked to look at the camera and smile. They are given something to do, and the pictures are taken while they get on with doing it. We shape each session around your family, whether that is a lively houseful or a gentle newborn shoot.
One photographer runs the session, so the same person who met your children directs them, edits their pictures and hands the finished images over. Prints, framed portraits, canvases and albums are all available, and a set for the grandparents is a common request after any multi-generation session.

Good to know
Yes. Havering is a straightforward run for us by road, with the M25 and the A12 skirting the borough, and we carry everything needed with us. Hornchurch, Upminster and Romford as well. The one thing worth settling early is the meeting point, because a family session usually starts at a car park rather than at an address, and the two are not always obvious to a driver.
Yes. The one adjustment for Havering is where: the parkland at Havering-atte-Bower sits on a hill, and a long uphill walk is the last thing anyone wants in the final weeks. We either work the level ground close to the car park or do the whole thing at the Northwood room, which is warm, private, and has somewhere to sit down between setups.
It is, but from Havering it is a car journey round the M25 rather than a local trip, and a toddler who has already spent a while in a car seat does not arrive at their best. So we would usually suggest starting outdoors in the borough and keeping the room at The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6 as the fallback for weather, or for babies too small to be out in the cold.
It happens all the time, and it truly does not worry us. Across our Havering sessions we have seen every tear, wriggle and unexpected nap, so we simply pause, soothe your baby and continue. A fussy start rarely spoils the lovely images we end up with.
Yes, and they often do. The practical point in Havering is the ground: Bedfords Park is high up and not level, so if anyone in the group finds slopes or long walks hard, say so when you book and we will work the flat band near the car park instead. Nobody has to be in every frame either; grandparents can sit for their own.
Serving Havering
Havering is well within our travel area. It sits close to Redbridge and Barking and Dagenham, which we cover too. We cover Havering and the wider London area for family photography, on location or in the studio, with no local travel charge.
An outer east London borough with rural country fringes to the north and the long-established Romford street market at its heart. Served by Romford station on the Elizabeth line and London Overground, with the A12 and M25 skirting the borough. For on-location sessions we often head to spots such as Bedfords Park at Havering-atte-Bower, close to the well-known Bower House of 1729 in the hilltop village of Havering-atte-Bower.
More in Havering
The same studio, experience and personal care apply to every service we offer in Havering. Explore the rest: We also cover family photography across London, including Southwark, Haringey, Barnet, Kensington and Chelsea, Redbridge and Greenwich.
Bedfords Park is the obvious place to take a family in Havering, and the thing to plan around is that it sits at the top of the village rather than on the flat. Gradient costs small children far more than distance does. A hundred metres of uphill uses up the good mood a five year old arrived with, and it is that mood, not the light, which decides how many usable frames a session yields. So we work a band of ground within sight of the car park, out and back rather than up and over, and leave anything steep for the adults if it happens at all. The red deer herd helps here in a way that is nothing to do with photography. Children will walk towards deer without being asked, which produces natural movement, faces looking at something real, and a route that has a purpose to it, rather than the flat business of asking a child to walk from one tree to another for no reason they can see. Prams and older relatives pull in the same direction as the children do: level ground, park close, no loop. And there is a point in the year, roughly from the first properly cold week onward, where the wind on that hill is simply unkind to a baby or to anyone who has to stand still in it, and the Northwood room becomes the better answer. Warm, no walking, nothing to watch the sky for.

How it works
We travel to Havering rather than asking you to travel to us. On-location coverage suits weddings, corporate events, team headshots and product shoots, and we bring whatever lighting the space needs. The Northwood studio is available too if you prefer it.
