How a headshot session runs
We take one sitter at a time, so the room is yours and nobody waits in the corner while you find your expression. The first few frames are throwaways and everybody knows it, which is usually the thing that unlocks the rest.
We start against the plain background, then change the light if a warmer, less corporate version is wanted for a personal page. You see the pictures on a screen as we go, choose there and then, and the chosen ones are retouched by hand.

Yes, always. Acting headshots are supplied at the sizes casting platforms ask for, Spotlight included, and framed as natural head-and-shoulders portraits. The lighting stays honest, so agents and casting directors see the person who will walk into the audition.
Long sleeves and a neckline that keeps its shape, in a mid or deep tone. Bring one alternative in a different colour, since the decision is easier made in the room than at home. Small patterns fizz on screen and are best avoided. If we are working outdoors at the Aquadrome rather than against plain grey, bright water behind you darkens everything else, so pick something with light in it.
