You get a rough plan before the day: where we meet, what to bring for the youngest, and who needs to be there for which frames. Sessions are kept short on purpose, since a small child gives what they have once.
Anyone who cannot stand for long is seated for their frames rather than asked to wait through them. Frames come in short runs with a pause between each one, which is roughly how small children operate anyway. Finished pictures arrive in a private online gallery, sized both for a wall print and for a phone.

Great customer service and very professional. I booked a family photo session with him for a Sunday evening at 5pm however, got stuck in traffic and couldn't get to the studio until 5:45 pm. He was very patient and waited until we got to there. He was very good at making my daughter smile in all the pictures.
We had the loveliest experience having our family photos taken at this photography studio in Northwood Hills. The photographer was absolutely wonderful, so warm, patient and amazing with the kids! - Woodoaks Farm and the Black Barn. Woodoaks Farm at Maple Cross covers just over 300 acres including about 75 acres of semi-natural woodland, was donated to the Soil Association Land Trust in 2020, and contains the 16th-century Grade II listed Black Barn. 3
- Maple Lodge Nature Reserve at Maple Lodge Close, off Denham Way (WD3 9SN), is a 40-acre reserve of lakes, marsh, hedgerows and woodland run by the Maple Lodge Conservation Society, a registered charity, and open to its members. 4

Tell us as early as you are able. Babies and toddlers get ill and have off days, and moving the session is always better than photographing a miserable child. We will rebook for a date that suits you, at home or at the studio.

Maple Cross is a village of about 2,426 people at the 2011 census, in Three Rivers District on the western fringe of Rickmansworth. Its name is thought to be a contraction of Maypole Cross, after the maypole dancing held here, which was noisy enough for neighbouring Mill End to complain to the lord of the manor in 1588. The age of the youngest person coming decides everything else about a family session here. Under-fives give their best attention in the opening few minutes and spend the rest of the session negotiating, which is why the picture everyone actually wants, the whole group, all looking, nobody blinking, gets made first rather than saved as the finale. Once that frame exists the session can loosen into walking, carrying and lifting, and those tend to be the frames that end up on a wall. Maple Lodge Nature Reserve suits the youngest groups less well than its name suggests. A reserve is managed for the creatures living in it, which means quiet, staying to the marked route, and not going where a three year old wants to go, and an hour spent asking a small child to be quiet is an hour spent photographing the ground. Older children and adult groups get far more out of it. For toddlers the better ground is the village: pavements, a driveway, a garden, level footing for a grandparent, and somewhere to leave the car within sight of everyone. Light on an estate of post-war houses comes from open sky rather than filtered shade, so the useful hours are the two either side of the ends of the day, when the sun travels along the street rather than down onto it. Between those, contrast on faces is at its least forgiving and a room with controlled light beats any garden.
