Access to this small Three Rivers village runs through junction 17 of the M25 and the A412 Denham Way, and the village itself is made up largely of post-war housing on the western fringe of Rickmansworth. That position is an advantage, because several substantial venues sit within a short drive, including The Grove, The Waterside Venue, Moor Park Golf Club and Denham Grove, so a couple can marry locally and still reach a large reception quickly. Maple Lodge Nature Reserve in the Colne Valley Regional Park is the quiet outdoor option, offering water and planting rather than manicured lawn. The Cross, a listed former inn on Denham Way with parts dating back to at least the 1700s and now converted into homes, gives the village its one piece of real age. Guests arriving from Rickmansworth, West Hyde and Chorleywood have short journeys, which makes a more ambitious portrait schedule realistic here than in most places.
