Commercial photography in a village this size is nearly always made at the address where the business already operates, and that puts the lighting problem first. Two sources fight each other inside almost any premises: daylight through the windows, which is cool and directional, and the lamps overhead, which are warmer and much flatter. A camera balanced for one of them makes the other look wrong, and the split shows worst on skin, where one half of a face goes green and the other goes orange. Raising the ISO settles nothing. It only makes a badly lit room brighter. What settles it is bringing one strong light in, matching it to whichever source will dominate the frame, and killing the other wherever a switch can be reached. Older fabric sharpens the problem. The Cross on Denham Way, a listed former inn with parts dating back to at least the 1700s, is the one building in the village with real age to it, and a room of that period admits far less daylight than a modern one, so an interior of that age is a lighting job rather than an available light job. Team pictures then need a discipline of their own. Everybody photographed on a visit should be shot at one lens, one distance and one light height, with those three numbers recorded, because the person who joins in six months has to slot into the same row without looking pasted on.
