For Oxhey
An hour outdoors is plenty and rather less is enough indoors. We walk, talk, and photograph in between, instead of arranging everybody in a row and asking them to hold it. Nobody gets told to say cheese.
What you receive is a finished gallery plus the full-size files, so a framed print for one household and a phone-sized copy for another both come out of the same afternoon without anything being reshot. A print can be sized later to the wall it is going on.

What we offer
Family sessions beside the Colne in Oxhey Park, on level ground that suits prams and slower walkers.
The group picture first, the children on their own after, because patience runs out in that order.
Grandparents seated, children moving and nobody blinking: large groups get planned before anyone arrives in the park.
Why choose us
Cake smash sessions run in a set order: clean frames in a nice outfit first, then the cake, then a wipe down, because it never works in reverse. Naming what you actually want in advance helps enormously, whether that is one wall portrait, a set of prints for grandparents, or simply a record of this exact year.
Studio sessions use warm, simple backdrops, while outdoor sessions make the most of soft, natural light. We photograph the whole family together, then smaller groups and each child on their own, so every combination is covered.

Good to know
Yes, and lots of Oxhey families do. A first-year package follows your baby from their newborn session through sitting up and first steps, finishing with a cake smash on the first birthday. It is a lovely way to record just how fast they grow.
Around an hour is typical for our Oxhey sessions, but we honestly never watch the clock. When newborns and toddlers are involved we build in extra time for feeds, naps and cuddles, keeping everyone content. Your children set the pace, and we simply follow it.
Yes, and at your house in Oxhey, not at the studio, since a warm room the baby already knows beats any journey. We work to feeds rather than to a clock, and use whichever window gives the best light in the house that morning. Allow two to three hours: the baby sets the pace, and pushing that pace has never once made a session shorter.
Both, and you need not choose at the booking stage. The Northwood studio is kept as the fallback for an outdoor session in Oxhey, and the call gets made the evening before rather than on the day itself. Indoors the light is entirely ours to control; outdoors in Oxhey Park you get the ground the family actually walks on. Most people book outdoors and use the studio through winter.
Yes. In Oxhey the limit is the ground rather than the number of people, and Oxhey Park has enough level open space for a group in double figures to stand without anybody being pushed onto a slope. Tell us the number when you get in touch, so the spot can be chosen in advance and the tallest and shortest end up where the light suits both.

Riverside parkland is level ground, and that is the whole reason family work in Oxhey defaults to Oxhey Park rather than to anywhere with a view. A pram rolls, a walking frame is safe, and nobody has to climb anything to get into the picture. The trade is drainage: flat ground beside a river stays soft for days after rain, so the surfaced paths do the work in a wet week and the open lawn is a summer option only. Small children set the running order, not us. A four year old gives their best attention in the opening stretch of a session and spends the rest of it negotiating, so the whole-group picture is made on arrival, while everyone still looks the way they did leaving the house. Pictures of the children alone come later, when a bit of chaos improves the photograph rather than spoiling it. Grandparents are worth planning for rather than accommodating on the day. Where somebody cannot stand for long, we find a bench first and build the group around it, which reads as a deliberate composition instead of an obvious compromise. From November the light beside the Colne fails early, because trees on the far bank cut a low sun long before the sky itself goes. Four o'clock in the park in December is not a session. That is the point in the year when the Northwood studio does the job better, and there is no weather in it at all.
