Family sessions can take place across Chorleywood and out to Heronsgate and Rickmansworth, on the common, in the Chorleywood House Estate grounds or, through winter, at the Northwood studio. A session can be built around one frame with two or three generations in it, plus whatever else the afternoon allows.
We choose the spot for the pram and the least mobile person present, not for the view, then work in a tight circle around it. Nobody crosses wet grass twice, the bags stay by the car, and the frame that matters is taken while the youngest is still interested rather than saved for the end.

I took my elderly parents to have photos path the grandchildren. The whole experience from photo shoot to choosing and picking up the photos was amazing. Kaushik was polite helpful and friendly and made all the kids and my elderly parents feel comfortable. They all enjoyed the experience and the photos were amazing. He even delivered them home on Christmas Eve!
We had a family shoot at the studio, Kaushik took some wonderful photos. He was excellent with the kids and was very good at making them smile naturally, the end results were brilliant. We purchased a canvas and 2 further large framed photos. All completed on time and to perfection. Very pleased.
We had a fun one hour family portrait session recently.Kaushik was friendly and patient during the whole session,he made every effort to make us smile,giggle which came out in the photos.The photos are lovely and we placed an order for 3 big frames. Thank you !

How a family session runs
Plan on an hour. The group photograph is made at the start, since that frame is what the booking exists for, and everything after it can run at the children's pace.
We do not pose small children. They are given something to do and we photograph what follows. You get an edited gallery with the group frames at full size, and prints can be ordered from it later. If the weather is impossible we move indoors and the booking still stands.

Try not to worry; babies often are. Tears, wriggling and surprise naps are all planned for. We stop, give you time to soothe your baby and start again, and a wobbly beginning rarely shows in the finished photographs.
Yes, and the whole year can be arranged at once. It begins with a newborn session, returns when your baby sits up and again at first steps, and ends with a cake smash on the first birthday. Laid side by side, the four sessions show how quickly that first year goes.
Yes; just let us know as early as you can. Little ones have off days and illness comes on suddenly, and we would always rather move the date than photograph an unhappy child. We will then agree a new date that suits you.
Plan on about an hour, though nobody is watching the clock. With a newborn or toddler we allow extra time for feeds, naps and cuddles. The children decide the pace and we go along with it.
Of course. A family session is about everybody together, parents included. We start with everyone together, then smaller groups, then each child alone, so every combination is covered.

At about 6 miles from Northwood, Chorleywood is one of the closest villages to our studio. It sits close to Rickmansworth and Croxley Green, which we cover too. We can photograph your family at the studio or out in Chorleywood, where the wisteria circle at Chorleywood House Estate flowers between April and June, and travel is not charged.
Chorleywood House Estate, run by Three Rivers District Council, combines formal parkland, open meadows and mature woodland running down to the River Chess, with free parking at the main entrance off the A404, which makes it easy for grandparents and prams. Relatives coming out from London can take the Metropolitan line to Chorleywood station on Station Approach, which also has a car park. For relaxed outdoor photographs, the Chorleywood House Estate grounds and the heathland and ponds of Chorleywood Common are both good options.

At the studio
Our studio, a short drive from Chorleywood
From Chorleywood it is a drive of about 6 miles to The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6 1NU. Families come there for studio sessions, and it also takes in prints, frames, old photographs and negatives for restoration and framing in house. Passport and ID photos are taken at the studio too. Opening times are 10:30 to 18:00 from Monday to Saturday and 13:00 to 18:00 on Sundays.
