Serving Hemel Hempstead
We travel to Hemel Hempstead for family sessions, and to Redbourn, Bovingdon and Boxmoor on the same footing, meeting you at a gate you can find rather than a spot described over the phone. Bookings here often run to three generations, since the grandparents are usually the reason anybody got organised in the first place.
The concrete part is the ground. We pick flat open grass so a pram rolls and nobody who tires easily has far to walk, and we name a second date at the outset in case the day turns out unusable. Rain with a two year old is not a session worth salvaging.

What we offer
Family sessions on flat open ground in Hemel Hempstead, chosen so prams roll and grandparents stay seated.
Three generations in one booking, with a place kept for anyone who cannot stand about for long.
Files back in colour and black and white, ready to print and ready to send round.
Twenty-five years behind the lens
A session runs about forty five minutes, which is short on purpose, and it is led by whoever is smallest. Nobody is asked to hold a smile. We set a simple task, walking, carrying, being lifted, and photograph what happens around it.
You get a mixed set: the formal one everybody will ask for, plus the frames nobody posed for. If the ground is impossible, the session moves indoors to Northwood rather than being called off. Nobody is asked to choose anything on the day; the edited set follows in the week after.

Good to know
Yes. The open ground at Gadebridge Park takes a big group without anybody having to squeeze in, and that matters more than it sounds. A row of twelve people on a narrow path bends into a curve and the ends drift out of focus. On flat grass a large group stands in two shallow rows with every face sharp. Tell us the headcount when you book so we allow the time.
Yes. Milestone sessions mark the moments that matter as your baby grows, from sitting up and first steps to a first birthday. Booking a few sessions across the year lets you look back on each stage, and the changes are wonderful to see. For Hemel Hempstead bookings, getting here is simple: Hemel Hempstead station at Boxmoor is on the West Coast Main Line to London Euston, and the M1 and M25 meet nearby.
Yes, and they are often the reason the booking exists. Tell us in advance if anyone needs a seat, whether grass underfoot is manageable and how long they can comfortably stay out, because all three change where we meet you. Three generations in one frame is the picture most families ask for, and it is easier outdoors than in a living room where the walls dictate the arrangement.
Yes. Family sessions in Hemel Hempstead are done there rather than at the studio, unless you would prefer a warm room and controlled light. Boxmoor, Bovingdon and Redbourn are covered too. Give us two or three possible dates when you enquire, since we hold a spare one against bad weather. A family session in rain is not worth attempting with small children.
Yes, and at your address rather than ours. A baby of two weeks travels badly, and a warm familiar room beats a studio for that reason alone. We come to you in Hemel Hempstead with everything needed, work around feeds instead of a schedule, and expect two or three hours with much of it spent waiting. The first fortnight is the easiest window, though later is perfectly workable.
Serving Hemel Hempstead
Our studio is in Northwood, so Hemel Hempstead (HP1) is part of our core Hertfordshire area. It sits close to Kings Langley and Abbots Langley, which we cover too. Sessions run at the studio or on location in Hemel Hempstead, and there is no travel charge for local bookings.
Hemel Hempstead is a busy Hertfordshire town that expanded as a post-war new town, sitting close to the Chiltern Hills and keeping a historic Old Town high street. Hemel Hempstead station at Boxmoor is on the West Coast Main Line to London Euston, and the M1 and M25 meet nearby. For on-location sessions we often head to spots such as Gadebridge Park, close to the well-known St Mary's Church.

Hemel Hempstead expanded as a post-war new town, which means its green space was put in on purpose and threaded through the housing rather than left over at the edges. For a family session that is what decides whether the morning runs around a car journey or around a short walk, and with children under five the car journey is where the goodwill goes. Gadebridge Park is the ground we would pick for a group with a wide age range in it. The riverside fields are flat and unbroken, which does two useful things at once. A pram rolls without anybody lifting it, and a grandparent who cannot stand for a long stretch can be settled in one place and left there while the children are sent out and called back. Family pictures usually come apart because the adults are marched from spot to spot behind the photographer. Here the adults hold still and the children do the moving, which is the natural order of things anyway. Timing is set by the youngest person present rather than by the light. A three year old hands over about twenty minutes of real cooperation and then hands over nothing, so the picture that has to contain every one of you is made near the beginning, and the loose running-around frames come afterwards, when it does not matter if half of them fail. When the ground is soaked or the wind is up, the Northwood studio does the same job indoors. Small children behave better in a warm room than in a cold field, and so, quietly, do their grandparents.
