Commercial work in Hemel Hempstead runs into one recurring problem, and it is a measurement of the room rather than a fault in the lighting. The town grew in very different phases and a single company here can easily occupy both: a narrow older frontage on the Old Town high street with no depth to step back into, and later premises with room to work properly. In the shallow one a long lens is simply not available, and a wide lens used close to a face stretches the nose and thins the ears. The answer is not a different camera. It is to shoot along the longest sight line the building has, which is usually a diagonal across a corner or a view down a corridor with the subject at the far end, and to accept a busier background that gets thrown out of focus. The lighting trouble is the same in both and is worth naming. Window daylight and overhead fittings are different colours, and a face lit by the two at once goes green down one side. We bring our own light and make it the dominant source rather than arguing with the ceiling. Consistency across a team is a matter of record keeping. Staff here are rarely in the building together on any one day, so we note the distance from light to subject, the height and the power, and those numbers come back out for the next visit. Someone photographed in November then sits properly beside a colleague photographed in March, at the same size, on the same background.
