The hukamnama, the reading taken after the laavan, closes the ceremony, and we capture it with respect. For families holding a Sri Akhand Path, we photograph the continuous reading with quiet reverence. The four laavan, each a hymn the couple circle the Guru Granth Sahib for, are the heart of the ceremony, and we capture them with reverence.

The day often opens early with kirtan in the gurdwara, and we are there for it. The mehndi, the jaggo and the maiyan each carry their own mood, and we photograph them all. We photograph the chunni ceremony and the giving of the choora, and the emotion that comes with them.
