At the heart of a Sikh wedding is the Anand Karaj, the blissful union performed before the Guru Granth Sahib. We know the order of the Anand Karaj by heart, from the kirtan to the ardaas and the four laavan. Heads covered and seated on the floor with the sangat, we photograph the laavan without ever intruding.

The kaleere tied to the bride's choora carry their own meaning, and we photograph the ritual with care. The dhol and bhangra of the jaggo are pure joy, and we capture every bit of the energy. The doli, when the bride leaves her family home, is the most tender moment of the day.
