Serving Abbots Langley
Sittings for people in Abbots Langley, Bedmond, Hunton Bridge and Garston run either on the parkland at Leavesden or among the older frontages of the village, and frequently both inside the same hour. Northwood is the wet weather answer, booked on the morning if it comes to that.
Most of what gets asked for around here is a single usable picture rather than a wall of them: something for a profile, something a parent can put in a frame, something to sit beside your own work. That is a short brief, and it deserves a short session done properly rather than padded out to look generous.

What we offer
About an hour split between Leavesden parkland and village brickwork, with Northwood indoors if it rains.
Worked from a distance and talked through quietly, since most people loosen up once a lens leaves their face.
Everything you approved while standing beside us, handed over at print resolution plus a screen sized set.
Why choose us
You are met where you are photographed, not at an office. Roughly an hour of shooting time, split between open parkland and a stretch of brickwork, so the setting changes while you stay in the same clothes.
Every frame shows up on the screen moments after it is taken, and anything you cannot stand is deleted while you are standing beside us. Editing goes no further than stray hairs and marks due to vanish anyway. Print sizes and web sizes of every keeper come back to you.

Good to know
Yes. Leavesden Country Park has the space, and the reason that matters is less obvious than it sounds: on flat open ground a straight back row hides behind the front one, so large groups get set into a shallow arc instead. Give us a head count when you enquire, because anything past about ten wants an extra light and a longer booking, and neither gets arranged on the morning.
Because there is a plan specific to the village rather than a template dropped onto it. Frames come off the open parkland at Leavesden and off the older brickwork in the core, so a single sitting yields two quite different sets. Northwood covers the weather. And you pick your keepers on the day, standing beside us, rather than off a link that lands a fortnight later.
Think about colour ahead of outfits. With nothing behind you except grass and sky, mid tones lift away from the background where black and white tend to flatten into shapes. Wear something already broken in rather than bought for the day, pack a spare top when you cannot decide, and pocket a comb and a hair tie, because open ground keeps hair moving.
About an hour of shooting, plus a few minutes at the start to reach the first spot. Because the parkland and the village frontages sit near each other, the background can change two or three times without any driving in between. Bookings built around small children finish sooner, since patience gives out long before the daylight has.
Of course. Couple portraits are among our favourite sittings, in the Northwood studio or outdoors around Abbots Langley. Instead of stiff poses, we offer gentle prompts so the connection between you feels natural and real. You can take digital images, and add prints, frames or an album later.

Two settings stand a few minutes apart here, and they photograph nothing alike. Leavesden Country Park is more than twenty-seven hectares of open parkland; the historic core of the village is brick, older frontages and doorways. Using both inside one sitting produces variety that would otherwise cost a second location and a second morning. On parkland of that size the real difficulty is that there is no backdrop to speak of. Behind a standing figure there is grass, a horizon, then sky, and not one of those says anything, so the choices turn geometric instead of scenic. Where the camera sits, whether a head rises above the skyline or stays against green, how much sky is allowed into the frame: those decide the picture. A low viewpoint lifts a sitter clear of everything. Standing square at eye level, with the horizon running through the throat, does the reverse. It also loads everything onto clothing. When the surroundings say nothing, what you wear says all of it, and mid tones separate from pale grass far better than black or white, either of which tends to collapse into a silhouette. The village core answers a different question. Pavements there are narrow, so backing away is not on offer; the answer is a shorter focal length used close in, with a doorway or a run of brickwork holding the edges. Those frames sit somewhere identifiable, which the parkland ones never will. Most sittings end up wanting a handful of each.
