For pre-wedding and couple portraits, we love spots such as Rickmansworth Aquadrome, with Batchworth and Bury Lakes, open grassland and woodland walks, with The Aquadrome, a lakeside park and nature reserve with lakes formed from gravel pits once dug to build the original Wembley Stadium close by for a striking backdrop.

From maiyan to doli

We know the order of the Anand Karaj by heart, from the kirtan to the ardaas and the four laavan. The kirtan and shabads that fill the gurdwara are as much a part of the story as the laavan themselves. As the ragis sing each laav, the couple walk slowly around the Guru Granth Sahib, and we photograph it quietly from the side.

The day often opens early with kirtan in the gurdwara, and we are there for it. The reception is the joyful finale, with speeches, the first dance, bhangra and giddha. We capture the groom's arrival for the milni, surrounded by dancing family and the beat of the dhol.
