If the gurdwara and the reception are in different places, perhaps with the reception in the Apsley Suite at Shendish Manor, which holds up to 320 day guests, a second photographer is worth adding, as are a pre-wedding shoot and an album. The building exists to be worshipped in, and cameras were not part of that brief; nothing inside will be shifted on our account, not the carpet line, not the balcony rail, not where daylight enters. The job there is reconnaissance, not arrangement: look first, then plan around whatever cannot be moved. Reconnaissance beats backdrop-hunting every time, and the pictures show it.
Your reception is the opposite job and deserves holding in your head as a second booking. In that room you can have a top table pulled off a wall, uplighters dimmed, a window uncovered. What sits between the two swallows more of a day than anybody allows for: cars, parking, a change of clothes, milni greetings overrunning. Plan that gap deliberately.

Embraces come in a queue at the milni, and they go past quickly. Names matter there: ask one uncle from each side to stand with us and say who is about to step forward, because a photograph of two men greeting is worth nothing if nobody can label it later. The anand karaj is four rounds and the fourth is not the first. Tempo changes, attention changes, and a photographer who takes the same frame four times has wasted three of them.
We photograph the palla being placed, then turn away from the couple and work the room: parents, musicians, the people who look up. Langar holds the best unposed pictures of the day and almost nobody books coverage for it. Sitting down to eat with everybody else is also the quickest way for a photographer to stop being a stranger. Later, opposite instincts apply to the doli: stand back, use a long lens, and leave a family to say goodbye with no camera filling the doorway.
