Serving Watford

Your Sikh wedding photographer in Watford

Watford is a lively Hertfordshire town with banqueting venues. From grand banqueting venues to the calm of the darbar sahib, we are at home everywhere across Bushey, Garston and Oxhey. Whether your Anand Karaj is in Watford itself or elsewhere across Hertfordshire, we plan the day around your venues.

We are at ease with large, multi-day Sikh celebrations and intimate gurdwara ceremonies alike. We bring a long lens and a light touch, so the four laavan are captured from the sides of the gurdwara at a respectful distance. We let the Anand Karaj unfold at its own pace and meet the four laavan with a quiet, watchful eye.

We know Watford, a lively Hertfordshire town with banqueting venues, and the surrounding part of Hertfordshire well, having photographed Sikh weddings throughout Bushey, Garston and Oxhey. We are often in nearby Carpenders Park and Maple Cross too. Local Sikh wedding venues we know near Watford include The Grove, The Langley Banqueting Suites and Hilton Watford.

A lively Hertfordshire town just outside London, with a large shopping centre and a well-known football club. Served by Watford Junction on the West Coast Main Line and Watford station on the Metropolitan line. For portraits away from the celebration, Cassiobury Park, a large historic park with the River Gade and canal works beautifully, and Vicarage Road, home of Watford Football Club, with the Warner Bros. Studio Tour at nearby Leavesden adds a real sense of place.

Every tradition

Punjabi and Sikh customs understood

Before the ceremony the groom's sehra is tied, and we photograph the sehra bandi with a gentle eye. The most sacred moments inside the gurdwara are captured with a quiet long lens, from a respectful distance. The kirtan and shabads that fill the gurdwara are as much a part of the story as the laavan themselves.

The maiyan, when turmeric is applied, is full of colour and play, and often holds the warmest moments. We capture the lively milni as the two families meet, with the garlands, the dhol and the embraces. The doli, when the bride leaves her family home, is the most tender moment of the day.

The whole celebration

The shape of your wedding in Watford

The days before the wedding often hold the most relaxed, candid moments of the whole celebration. The turmeric of the maiyan and the henna of the mehndi are rich with colour, and we make the most of it.

The wedding day itself is a journey, from the morning milni and the kirtan to the laavan and the doli. For the busiest days, a second photographer covers two moments at once, the milni and the bridal prep.

Why choose us

Twenty-five years of Sikh weddings

Our long experience means a calm, capable presence whatever the gurdwara day brings. Sikh families return to us, and recommend us, because we treat every laav and every ardaas as it deserves.

We will travel to your gurdwara, your reception and your pre-wedding maiyan and mehndi, wherever they are held. We factor in the early gurdwara timings and the milni carefully, so we are always in position before the four laavan.
