The short answer

Where can I get a cake smash photoshoot near Harrow?

The studio at The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6 1NU is about 3 miles from Harrow. Most parents drive, with the cake on the back seat and parking close by; the Metropolitan line from Harrow-on-the-Hill to Northwood Hills is direct if you prefer the train. A cake smash needs a set, a splash bath and space for mess, so it is photographed in the studio rather than at home. Book for 11 to 13 months and allow one to two hours. Call or WhatsApp 07956 505383 to arrange it.

We’re so glad we chose Kaushik as our photographer for maternity shoot —he was absolutely fantastic. On the day, he made us feel completely at ease, and the photos turned out superb. He was incredibly accommodating with all our requests and his attentiveness and personable nature were exactly what we hoped for in a photographer. Thank you, Kaushik!

Great service! Kaushik was able to capture some beautiful shots for my maternity baby and bump shoot. He was very helpful and guided me with the poses throughout the shoot. I love the pictures & I’m looking forward to having the final edits!

Why the studio

Why a cake smash happens in the studio

Frosting gets everywhere, which is exactly the point, and nobody wants it on a Harrow sofa. The studio has a backdrop that can be wiped down, props ready to go and a warm splash set for the end, so you can relax and simply watch your baby enjoy it.

The session starts with a few clean first birthday portraits. Then the cake goes down and the real fun begins, usually for ten to fifteen minutes, before the splash doubles as the wash.

The journey

Travelling from Harrow with a one-year-old

Timing the drive is the main thing. Leave after the morning nap, bring a snack for the car and give your baby a few minutes to look around before we start. If you come by train from Harrow-on-the-Hill, a sling and a small bag are easier than a buggy and a cake box; some families send one parent ahead by car with the cake.

Bring a spare outfit, plenty of wipes and a favourite toy. A soft sponge with lots of frosting is easiest for small hands.
