We are award-winning photographers with a long history across every Asian wedding tradition. You can add a second photographer, a female photographer and hand finished albums, and we are glad to travel across Hampshire and beyond, so wherever your celebration is held it is within reach.

Serving Portsmouth

Considered Asian Wedding Photography for Couples in Portsmouth

Portsmouth is a historic naval city with waterside venues. Across Southsea, Cosham and Fareham and the rest of Hampshire, we cover the mehndi, the ceremony and the reception with a careful eye. Whatever your faith, the auspicious hour sets the tempo, and we plan our positions around the muhurat or muhurtham so the sacred minutes are never rushed for a picture.

Our approach is relaxed and documentary, so you can be present in your own wedding. We are a reassuring, familiar presence, so everyone relaxes and the day flows naturally. We read the rhythm of an Asian celebration and are always in the right place at the right time.

We travel throughout Hampshire for temple, gurdwara and mosque ceremonies, and Portsmouth, a historic naval city with waterside venues, is one we know well. We also photograph in nearby Basingstoke and Winchester. Close to Portsmouth, we have worked at venues including Portsmouth Guildhall, Langstone Quays Resort and HMS Warrior.

Portsmouth is a naval port city largely set on Portsea Island, home to a long Royal Navy history. Portsmouth Harbour railway station connects to the South Western Main Line and to the Isle of Wight ferry. For portraits away from the celebration, Southsea Common, a wide seafront green stretching along the shoreline works beautifully, and The Spinnaker Tower, a tall sail shaped observation tower at Gunwharf Quays adds a real sense of place.

Every tradition

Coverage That Honours the Anand Karaj

As the sindoor is applied and the mangalsutra tied, a Hindu marriage is complete, and we are ready for both of those small, fast gestures. At a Muslim wedding, the nikah and the signing of the contract carry great dignity, and we cover them with respect. We work quietly around the priest, the granthi or the imam so the ceremony is never disturbed.

The groom may arrive on horseback, by car or on foot, and whichever way he comes, we are ready for the procession and the dancing around him. The sangeet is an evening of music and rehearsed dance, and we capture all of its energy. For Gujarati families the garba and the raas fill the evening with colour and movement, and we love photographing them.

The whole celebration

One Story Across Every Event of Your Wedding

The days before the wedding often hold the most relaxed, candid moments of the whole celebration. As the bride's mehndi is drawn, time slows in the nicest way, and we use those hours to gather the softer portraits that a busy ceremony day rarely allows.

Just fifteen minutes is enough for a handful of timeless portraits near your venue. On the wedding day, the baraat, the ceremony and the vows build to the farewell and the reception.

Why choose us

Why Couples Across Hampshire Trust Us With Their Wedding

Award recognition matters less to us than the families who book us again for a sibling's wedding, though we are quietly proud of both. A thousand weddings in, we still find every celebration unique, and photograph it that way.

Distance is never a problem; travelling to your venues is simply part of how we work. We travel happily across Hampshire and the surrounding counties for the whole celebration.

Good to know

Wedding photography in Portsmouth, frequently asked questions

Yes. Alongside your album we provide an online gallery of your edited images, easy to share with family whether they live near Portsmouth or overseas. Relatives who could not make the wedding can then see the day and, where you wish, order prints of their own.

Our London base puts Portsmouth and the towns around it comfortably within reach, on a road we know well. You get a broadly experienced Asian wedding specialist who is at home in every tradition, knows the venues nearby and thinks nothing of coming to you.

Dimly lit halls and prayer rooms hold no fear for us. By relying on fast lenses and considered technique, we keep the photographs clean and natural without resorting to harsh flash during the sacred parts of the day. If a little light is called for at the reception, we add it with discretion.

Certainly. The nikah, the signing of the contract and the giving of the mehr are photographed with due dignity, as is the warmth of the walima that follows. We remain respectful of your family's customs throughout and provide further photographers should the events take place separately.

Of course. Many families ask us to follow the celebration from the mehndi and sangeet right through to the main ceremony and reception, which gives the finished collection a single, flowing narrative. Where the mehndi is kept to the ladies, a female photographer can take care of it for you.

Absolutely. The mehndi, the haldi or pithi and the sangeet are often where the warmest, most natural moments occur, and we are delighted to cover them as part of your wedding. Many families ask us to follow the whole celebration from the very first event to the very last.

It comes down to instinct built over the years. Having photographed well over a thousand Asian weddings, we sense where the day is heading and position ourselves early, never scrambling to catch up. During the busiest stretches a second photographer holds a separate angle, so no important moment goes unrecorded.
