The short answer

Your Asian wedding photographer in Winchester, at a glance

Kaushik Bathia has photographed Asian weddings across Hampshire for over twenty five years, and couples in Winchester choose him for calm, knowledgeable coverage of every tradition, backed by five European Gold awards. Across a long day we keep watching the edges of the room, where a grandmother's tears or two cousins laughing often say more than the staged group. From the mehndi and sangeet to the baraat, the ceremony and the reception, we photograph every part of an Asian wedding in and around Winchester with knowledge and care. We have stood quietly beside the sacred fire, walked the gurdwara with the couple and waited for the thali to be tied, so nothing about your ceremony is unfamiliar. You can add a second photographer, a female photographer and hand finished albums, and we are glad to travel across Hampshire and beyond, so wherever your celebration is held it is within reach.

Serving Winchester

Beautiful Asian wedding photography in Winchester

Winchester is a historic cathedral city with grand venues. Families throughout Eastleigh, Alresford and Twyford bring us into their gurdwaras, mosques and banqueting halls, and we treat each setting with the respect it is due. The most sacred parts of the day are captured from a respectful distance with a quiet long lens.

For the jaimala and the joota chupai we stay close to the fun, because these lighter rituals carry as much of the family's character as the solemn ones. We are a reassuring, familiar presence, so everyone relaxes and the day flows naturally. We bring a long lens and a light touch, so the most sacred parts of the day are captured from a respectful distance.

We know Winchester, a historic cathedral city with grand venues, and the surrounding part of Hampshire well, having photographed Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Gujarati and Tamil weddings throughout Eastleigh, Alresford and Twyford. We are often in nearby Farnborough and Aldershot too. In and around Winchester, we have photographed at venues such as Lainston House, Winchester Royal Hotel and Norton Park Hotel.

Winchester is a historic cathedral city in Hampshire that served as the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Wessex. Winchester railway station is on the South Western Main Line between London Waterloo and Southampton. For relaxed couple photographs, we like St Catherine's Hill, an Iron Age hillfort on the edge of the South Downs with views over the city, and Winchester Cathedral, which has one of the longest naves of any Gothic cathedral in Europe gives the day a strong sense of Winchester.

Every tradition

Capturing the Nikah and the Words Between Families

At a Hindu wedding, the pheras around the sacred fire seal the marriage, and we capture them close. In the gurdwara, the couple circle the Guru Granth Sahib through the four laavan, and we follow that slow procession with the reverence the moment asks for. At a Muslim wedding, the nikah and the signing of the contract carry great dignity, and we cover them with respect.

The reception carries the celebration into the night with speeches, the first dance and the floor filling for the bhangra, and we stay to the final song. When the baraat sets off, the dhol drives the dancing and the groom moves slowly forward amid his family, and we are in the thick of every joyful step. When the reception loosens and the dance floor takes over, the bhangra runs late and joyful, and we stay for every last turn under the lights.

The whole celebration

Every event, across every day

Haldi mornings tend to be messy and full of feeling, so we keep our distance where it helps and move in close when the turmeric starts flying between cousins. Garba and dandiya call for a photographer who can keep up, so we stay inside the rhythm of the dancing rather than watching politely from the edge of the floor.

For a Muslim wedding the nikah and the walima may fall on the same day or separate ones, and we cover both. For the busiest days, a second photographer covers two moments at once, the baraat and the preparations.

Why choose us

Why a Second Photographer Changes Your Whole Day

We back up every image on the day as we shoot, carry spare equipment to each event, and have never once left a family without their photographs. With twenty-five years and over a thousand weddings behind us, nothing about an Asian celebration surprises us.

Distance is never a problem; travelling to your venues is simply part of how we work. A multi-day wedding spread across several venues asks for careful planning, and plotting the movement between them is something we do as a matter of course.
