We use those gaps rather than fighting them: arrive early, pick one side, stay on it once the priest begins. Agni sits low and throws its light upward, the one direction a face is never usually lit from, and it will fool any meter left on automatic. So we set exposure manually ahead of the first offering, then leave it there.

The second problem is speed. A varmala is sometimes finished inside ten seconds, with both of them lifted shoulder-high and the garland coming in from an angle nobody planned for. The pheras move too, and a slow lens misses the instant the couple rise. Haldi that morning fills a small bedroom, yellow on every hand, a single window carrying everything. A baraat outdoors reverses all of it: hard daylight, drums, and thirty people walking towards you at once. Sangeet later runs on stage colour, and that is how we treat it.
