Photographing Hindu weddings in Southampton

Southampton is a south-coast city with a diverse community. We travel throughout Hampshire for mandap ceremonies, and Eastleigh, Totton and Hedge End are all familiar to us. Whether your mandap is in Southampton itself or elsewhere across Hampshire, we plan the day around your venues.

We photograph the sacred and the joyful with equal care, the agni as faithfully as the bhangra. We move quietly through the day, capturing the real moments rather than staging them. We photograph the small moments as carefully as the grand ones, the glances as well as the rituals.

We are often in Southampton for Hindu weddings, and from London the area, taking in Eastleigh, Totton and Hedge End, is an easy journey. We also photograph in nearby Portsmouth and Basingstoke.

Every tradition

Every tradition, beautifully told

At the heart of a Hindu wedding is the agni, the sacred fire that witnesses the marriage. We photograph the lighting of the havan and the blessings of the pandit with respect. The blessings of the elders and the ashirwad close the ceremony, and we capture them with warmth.

The mehndi is intimate and detailed, and we photograph both the henna and the laughter around it. For Gujarati families, we know the mandvo, the grah shanti and the pithi, and photograph each with care. We photograph the milni, when the two families meet, with all of its warmth.

The whole celebration

Planning your wedding days in Southampton

We tailor the hours to your events, whether it is one key day or a long weekend of celebrations. The pre-wedding events often span several days, each with its own mood.

From the baraat to the last guest, we follow the whole day at its own pace. For the busiest days, a second photographer covers two moments at once, the baraat and the bridal prep.

Good to know

Hindu weddings in Southampton, FAQs

Absolutely. The haldi, mehndi and sangeet are often where the warmest, most natural moments happen, and we are glad to cover them as part of your wedding.

Very much so. We know the mandap rituals by heart, from the jaimala and kanyadaan to the pheras and the saptapadi, and we position ourselves so the sindoor and mangalsutra are always captured.

Yes. Our style is mainly documentary, but we will also gather a handful of timeless couple and family portraits so your album has both.

Yes. We understand that the auspicious muhurat sets the pace of the ceremony, and we plan our coverage around it so the pheras and saptapadi are always captured calmly and on time.

Most Hindu weddings run from the morning preparations through to the reception, so full-day coverage works best. For multi-day celebrations we tailor the hours to your events.
