Rigging around seated guests is slower and ruder than rigging around empty chairs.

Inside the darbar hall on the morning
Floor level governs the darbar hall entirely, because that is where the congregation sits. Eyelines drop a metre below normal, shoulders and turbans occupy most of the frame, and one uninterrupted view of the couple exists, straight up the central aisle. So one position gets settled early and held. Wandering about while the laavan are being sung costs the room far more than any photograph returns. Nobody in the sangat should have cause to notice us.
Illumination is whatever tubes the ceiling holds plus whatever falls through high glass, and adding to it is nobody's option. No flash. We open the aperture fully, tolerate the noise, and meter the palla, not the room. Milni follows, outdoors when Hampshire cooperates, the single boisterous stretch of the whole morning. Doli closes things, which means a camera reaching the car ahead of the family. Jago the night before, if your household keeps it, is louder still and warrants its own booking.
